It’s worked at least for 2 years until the state final. I just think Kirtland is on a different level. I would of never thought they would get shutout today.
I don’t think it’s Irontons fault honestly. We are very good at making good teams look bad. They aren’t bad. It’s just our play. As long as they went down with their best plays and not doing something crazy they aren’t used to doing, that’s all you can ask for

Seniors finish 0 - 3 vs Ashland. 1 - 2 vs Burg, 0 - 2 vs Kirtland. When ya take out all the OVC fluff it amounts to two good wins vs Wood, one against Harvest Prep, and 1 against Sycamore in past two seasons. Lets keep it a buck. The record is deceiving. Ironton isnt playing the same level of comp in reg season in comparison to Kirtland. They’re just not. Its below average at best. ( OVC)
Ironton wouldve struggled week one w Kirtlands schedule vs Lake Catholic.

That says it all if you are saying they would have struggled. It only shows a 16 point win but we were up 31-0 in that game before pulling starters

Yeah, total bums who happened to get lucky all the way to the state finals twice
We have all 3 of those with every guy. I think that’s most teams trouble with beating us but that’s credit to the kids. We wouldn’t have that if they didn’t put in 365 days of work. We are small but we don’t get pushed around because of their work ethic in the weight room
Looks like mistake did Ironton in not the type of football they played. Hard to recover from those kind of mistakes at a championship level game. Been a great year for the Tigers and they just might be back next year too. Go SEO.
Something better than what we have been running last couple of years. One dimensional but was easy to do with an all American against teams around here. Real question will be next year and years to come. Why can’t we run a spread the whole time not just pass in it but run in it too?

Size doesn’t always matter, especially in high school. Team strength, speed and stamina wins most games.
What sort of offense do you expect the tigers to run with the skillset they have?

Exactly. Skill sets are developed. Ya need some talent too yes, but hard work plays a part. If your offensive ball distribution decreases as your competition increases, and ya got less options available to you, what are you developing when ya playing 4 or 7 games a season vs the school of the blind??

Well tbh. Ironton had more talent. You just gotta piece that talent together to make a complete unit. LaVerde is awesome at that. We have no D1 players but what we got execute on a high level thanks to their work ethic and the coach
I will say the excuses from the fans on the Ironton page are laughable. “We recruit” “we are a private school” “the refs made bad calls” “we went from D7 to D5 because of recruiting” Someone might wanna tell them we haven’t been in D7 lol. There are a few on there that set the record straight. Thank you
That’s just plain dumb and laughable. So in other words they are crying like babies because they got beat at their own game. They got smashed at the point of attack. Penalties and the other nonsense excuses had nothing to do with the loss. Ironton could have played a flawless game and they still would have been taken to the wood shed.
3 yards and a cloud of dust seem to work just fine for Kirtland to win 3 state titles in a row. They do sprinkle a few passes in here and there. Kirkland just pounds the rock better than Ironton. The lines of Kirkland are what make that team IMO. They are lighting fast as lineman & speed kills.
That was the most passes we have thrown. Tiger adding a little mix to the game plan. The long drives with 3-4 yards at a time is what we want. We’ll take the big plays but we want constant first downs with short yards each time to wear defenses out. These 6 plays are ran from pee wee right on up to high school. Kids have it perfected before they ever play one down of varsity. That’s where the execution comes in

Look up “The Tigers Den” on Facebook and read the comments

Went in for a few. And the spelling?
So embarrassing.

I wasn’t going to say nothing about that but there is very little truth in there. Some of their fans set the record straight in there. Shout-out to the few that did
No thanks. No need to read foolishness. I’m a high school football fan, and not beholden to any one team. Excuses demeans the effort those tigers gave on the field throughout the past two years.
Yeah, because the Maryland I that Kirkland used and their other formations are so 21st century.
The person who started this bull crap post is showing their ignorance. Just because Kirkland just lined up and beat Ironton, it’s because it’s an old offense. Yeah, you obviously didn’t really watch the game.
Exactly, and hats off to Kirkland, Tiger and all the kids and community who has bought in.
It’s just funny to watch the blam be laid upon an outdated offense, when in fact, Irontons formations are more updated than Kirkland. Ironton tried a half back pass, it was a sack. Kirkland ran the same play, almost same formation and it was a TD. Kirkland ran option, midline, and bellies, passing game was simple Boot/waggle, spot pass and some idiot wants to blame Ironton running and “old” offense.
