Been out of the game for a while but there are some interesting results thus far. I’ve really only seen SW play once and they are great. As far as the others go I’m sure minford is good bc they upset southwebster but burg and northwest are right there too. I’ll be at the rematch of the Jeeps vs falcons for sure.
Minford beat Webster, Northwest, and tied Burg in a 7 day span. Then tie Valley?? No shame to Valley but I just didn’t think they were on that level yet.
What’s the deal? Is it matchups or is there more to it? Coaching/Players?
I believe in the instance of the Valley / Minford incident there were literally no other available officials for that game and both coaches agreed to the coverage. At least that’s the way it should’ve been.
That being said… anyone who thinks they can do a better job officiating would be more than welcome to get a license for next year and have a fair share of games.
From what I have observed this year its a combination of coaching, players listening to said coaching, and on /off games. There isn’t really one pinpoint issue that stands out. That’s the beauty of high school soccer. You can go watch the same school every single game and get a completely different “team” each night.
The fun continues as Waverly beat the Burg and then turned around to lose to Minford. It’s going to be a fun October.
The resurgence of Valley is not surprising to me. If they still have the ramenello kid then enuf said. Kid had a full goatee in middle school and is a wilderbeast among boys out there. He can take Indians deep Into the tourney imo
Waverly has played everyone in SOC II except West, all on the road. I would rate the teams so far as:
Minford
Northwest
Burg and Waverly even
West.
Even though Waverly beat Burg on the road, I rate them even because the game was very competitive and because Burg was able to beat NW and tie Minford while Waverly lost to both.
South Webster is better than all of the SOC II.
Waverly is young this year. Starting 11 has 4 freshmen, 3 sophomores, 2 juniors, and 2 seniors. All the contributing substitutes are freshmen and sophomores. There are only 2 other juniors and no other seniors on the team. None of the freshmen are sophomores are very big yet either. I don’t think there are more than 5 players on the team that need to shave. Hopefully they will continue to improve as they learn to play together.
