On the way home from Marietta friday night we caught a call in show and he was talking about a big contest, but never did say when and where. Does anyone have any info on it???
Yea! I believe it is November 14th. I am not sure where yet but we should find out this week on the Rusty Martin Show!
Rusty sent people out to the different tailgaters at each of the county football games. They selected there favorite dish/food and on the 14th they are going to have a cookoff to see who wins. I know Wendy’s is donating a bunch of Chilli for the event to.
As soon as I get all the info I will let you know!
The ulitmate tailgate cookoff will take place Saturday November 14th at the Pit Stop in Nelsonville. We will have over 30 contestants vying to become the Athens County Tailgate champion.
Cookers can start cooking whenever they want
The event will start at high noon (first plate of food to the judges)
We will have a big canopy set up with college football games on the big screen. I’m not sure of the start time for Ohio State and Iowa.
Wendy’s will be providing chili to make sure we have enough food.
Come on out, meet some people from other schools, eat some GREAT food and enjoy yourself.
So is the contest still open to all tailgaters, or just the ones that where picked?

Just looking at your picture makes me hungry. Reminds me of The Ribber down your way.
We have had tailgate teams visiting each Athens County school when they play at home and they put someone in the finals each time. At this time, I don’t think I can put someone else in for fear that I may leave the Pit Stop on the 14th with a couple of black eyes
Feel free to come up and visit though, we are going to have a heck of a time.

Sorry Logan Grad, I’ve been advertising I got 5 fat guys from Huntington coming to judge. I thought it was important to have people who don’t know anyone. It is definitely the best gig going. Why don’t you show up and if something happens and one of them can’t make it you can be 1st alternate.
You need to make it down to Pomroy if you want to see a great tailgate.

Nope not wanting that kind , Diet Mt. Dew would work just fine for me
We will probably have some drinks available but I am hoping that since the Pit Stop is sponsoring the event that people could spring a buck for a pop from the Pit Stop.
