Logan rips Gallipolis, 66-46
Visiting Logan exploded for 37 second half points to defeat Gallipolis Gallia Academy 66-46 in the Centenary Gym Tuesday evening.
The victory left Logan 11-9 on the season and 4-0 in Southeastern Ohio Athletic League play. GAHS dropped to 6-12 overall and 1-4 in SEOAL play. GAHS will host South Point Friday night in an Ohio Valley Conference game and Fairland on Tuesday, Feb. 9 in an OVC game.
Logan still has two SEOAL games left with Warren Local, also 4-0 in SEOAL action.
Sam Evans paced Logan with 15 points. Lane Little and Bo Myers each added 12 markers.
Logan sank 24 of 50 field goal attempts for 48 percent. At the line, LHS was nine of 16 for 56.2 percent. Logan controlled the boards with 35 rebounds, 22 in the second half, The Chiefs had 13 turnovers, only one in the second half and had 17 personal fouls.
Wes Jarrell led GAHS with 20 points. Kole Carter added eight. GAHS sank 15 out of 36 field goal attempts for 41.6 percent. At the line, GAHS was 13 of 22 for 59 percent. GAHS picked off 19 rebounds and had 15 turnovers and 16 personal fouls.
After one period, the score was tied at 13-13, Logan led 29-27 at halftime. allia’s last lead was 27-24 on a pair of free throws by Devin Henry with 2:23 left in the half.
Logan scored the first six points in the final quarter and was on top 52-33 after three quarters. The Chiefs biggest lead was 23 points, 59-36, with 5:21 left to play.
Logan made it a clean sweep in its final visit to the Old French City. The LHS frosh sank 10 straight free throws in the final period to capture a 38-30 win. In the JV contest, the Logan Papooses rallied from a 20-4 deficit to down the Blue Imps, 51-40.
In the freshman game, Logan led 8-7 after one period, LHS was on top 17-14 at halftime and 26-23 going into the final period. GAHS led 30-28 in the game, but Logan scored 10 straight free throws to ice the win. GAHS dropped to 11-2 overall. Logan improved to 12-8.
Blaine Carter led GAHS with 10 points. Cole Davis added eight. Landon Little paced Logan with 12 points. Isaac Mansfield added nine and Tyler Cummin seven.
In the JV game, GAHS led 15-4 after one period and 27-20 at halftime, Logan led 34-33 going into the final stanza,.then outscored the Imps 17-7 in the final period.
GAHS dropped to 9-9 overall and 1-4 in SEOAL play. Logan improved to 9-10 overall and 4-0 in league play.
Corey Call led GAHS scorers with 16 points. Justin McClelland added 9 and Kaden Thomas 7. Karn Carter and Joe Duffy led Logan with 11 points apiece.
