Ironton Basketball

Who’s the returning starters for the Fighting Tigers and what’s the outlook for this year, thoughts?

I think that the Fighting Tigers return at least 3 starters, those being Charlie Large, Ethan Wilson, and Kyle Adkins. The main challenge for Ironton will probably be rebounding and defense in the paint. Based on watching the JV team last year, it looks as if IHS won’t have a lot of size, but Coach Lafon always gets his kids to play really hard. They should at least be competitive in the majority of their games.

Thanks for your input Dave, seems like size has always been a problem for the Fighting Tigers. I can’t remember the last true big man we’ve had inside, we can’t seem to grow them over 6’4 or 6’5 and the 6’4 and 6’5 guys are few and far between.

GO FIGHTING TIGERS…

DOUG BIRCHFIELD WAS 6’7, Dean Fitzpatrick was 6’6,

Now, that goes back a few years. I remember watching them play and thinking they were giants, how tall was Robin Fitzpatrick? I know he seemed like a giant to.

Cliff Howard 6’6 (2005)
Trevor White 6’4 (2012)
Nick Colberson 6’4 (2013)
Trey Fletcher 6’5 (2013)
Isaac Sherman 6’4 (2014)
Tyler Webb 6’5 (2016)
Ryan Bryant 6’4 (current)

Bryant transferred to Ashland, Ky after last year, White was more like 6’2 stretching 6’3.

What ever became of the other Wilson Boy (I think his name was Tanner)?

He’s only been playing Football, but He’s been plagued with season ending injuries in football the last couple of years.

Can’t remember the exact years when he played, but Damon Pringle was about 6-7 and I remember him being a good player for the Fighting Tigers.

Pringle played on the 94-95 state tournament team. He was a very good player. He didn’t return for his senior year.was ineligible or got in trouble or something. Tigers could have made another run with him playing.

Robin was 6’7" Dave Sesher was another tall Tiger. He was 6’6" He played the same time Dean Fitzpatrick did. Carlo Gleichauf was
6’5"

Doesn’t look to bright for the Tigers this season. Nobody is talking about them.
