The Gallia academy Blue Angels opened the 2012 season by defeating visiting South Gallia 12-0 on Saturday afternoon in five innings. The Angels started strong by scoring 7 in the first inning. They added 4 more in the second and 1 more in the third. Sr. Heather Ward was the winning pitcher allowing only one hit while striking out four and walking none. Pacing the Angels with 2 hits each were Sr. Rachel Morris, Soph. Violet Pelfrey and Soph. transfer Maggie Westfall. Others with one hit were Sr. Mattie Lanham, Heather Ward, Jr. Megan Cochran and Freshmen Kendra Barnes and Chelsy Slone. 13 Blue Angels saw action in this game. The losing pitcher was C. Canaday who allowed 11 hits, struck out 2 and walked 6. Gallia Academy will travel to Warren on Wed. evening for their first league game.
