I don’t know Coach Carl, so I can’t speak to his brilliance, but I do know Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. They worked out and or lifted on a regular regimen ( in season as well ). I can speak to their brilliance!
As one poster said it depends on how and what you are lifting and definitely stretch.

So, gains in strength are only made in the off season? I guess that means the three and four sport athletes never get any stronger than they are as freshmen then. That’s a shame.
