For those who haven’t been able to see Worthington Christian, they have a young man by the name of DJ Moore who is very fun to watch. Committed to D1 Liberty.
3 out of 4 years, Miller, Truitt and McCorkle have played in the Regionals. I believe they are the only three Burg players to ever accomplish this feat. Congratulations on this amazing accomplishment
Regional semi-finalist in 2018
Regional runner-ups in 2019
Regional semi-finalist (so far) 2021
Burg will have to play there best game of the year. Third time they have to matchup with a private school. Maybe third times the charm.
WC shutout Harvest Prep in the second quarter and that defensive intensity carrying over for the rest of the game was the difference. Bigly.
Without getting a chance to see D3 District Finals like I have in years past at the Convo, I’ll refrain from making a prediction. But I’ll set the over-under of dunks between both teams at 5.5
Also, anyone know how WC was able to play at home tonight when all district finals were to be played at a neutral site. Got this from a friend on FB they played at home.
Looks like a small college team. Have all of these kids been in there system from day one?
Before everyone piles on, yes Burg has one kid, Truitt that came his Freshman year. Sanderlin actually moved in in Junior high. Everyone else on Burg’s roster has been there from day one.
Congratulations to the Wheelersburg Pirates on the 21st district title in school history…2nd all time in the SE district to Portsmouth’s 37. The Burg has been the most prolific tournament basketball program in the SE district since 2000, not only advancing to the regionals on numerous occasions, but also Final 4 appearances in 2006 and 2007.
Knowing how the Pirates played a very good Harvest Prep team in the regional finals in 2019, I am quite sure that WHS will play with that same intensity against WC. Getting off to a good start like they did vs. Eastern Brown would be a huge plus.
