1. The refs cheated - see southern game

2. We ran out of time - see GA game.
We dont make excuses.................yet you list two. Please continue your list for the remainder of the season. You should have plenty of L's in the column for an excuse to follow.

I think the post from Marauder Madness may have been "tongue in cheek"

This is the best coach Meigs has had in basketball Yes even Wolfe What was his record at Meigs

Plus lots better record then Meigs current football coach
Yet this will be final year for him and the football coach will remain

I would think with Bartrum's pedigree, he will stay as long as he wants.

Like it or not, Bartrum will remain at the helm as long as he wishes. This question belongs in the football forum, but I'll ask anyway, if you got your way and ousted Bartrum, who would be your replacement?

pedigree don't make you a winning coach At least not Bartrum

True, but pedigree goes along way until people stop coming to the games. $$$$$

No Dog in the fight here but Bartrum's Record.
2012 3-7
2013 7-3
2014 5-5
2015 6-4
2016 4-6
2017 4-6
Overall Record 29-31 . Would love to see what Coach Mike Chauncey's Record was at Meigs to compare.

I think it was just expected that Coach Bartrum would succeed because he was a pro, and a very good one at what he did. That literally translated not at all. A great player definitely doesnt aslways mean great coach. I actually imagine it would be very difficult to develop a high school offense after being accustomed to pro offenses for 13 years. Might be hard to adjust back to that, especially the way the game has changed. What's hurt his record is not necessarily his coaching, although you could question some of his decisions but that's typical. It's a result of overscheduling. The non-league schedule has been very stout for the most part since he arrived. Can't really knock him for trying to step up the program, but the program just wasn't where it needed yo be to do that. As for Coach Chancey, he is a better coach than most and had a solid program at Meigs for a long time. Having said that, comparing their records really doesn't necessarily tell the whole story about whos the "better" coach.

I don’t know anything Bartrum has done right or wrong as a coach...but just from talking to him and being around him for small moments over the last couple years...the guy exudes intensity and respect.

8th grade coming up is the best team in southern Ohio from what I’ve heard....I’d wager he becomes a much better coach over the next 3 years.

All I will say sometimes at the high school level and smaller school you only have a handful of talent to work with, last year and this year was 2 strong classes in SENIORS. Injuries played hectic on last 2 seasons and made a HUGE impact on the seasons...losing key skilled players like that in a small school is hard to overcome for ANYONE

Meigs basketball doomed itself to this year’s terrible season when it started Hocking League travel basketball. Elementary basketball became for the “haves” and not the “have nots” economically speaking. Kids that might have played did not because they could not travel. Then, you have less kids out for basketball. Then, the few kids you think are great decide they want to concentrate on football or baseball The result, only one senior out for basketball and he got hurt. Travel basketball doomed Meigs.

If that happens to the 8th grade group then your point may be strong. We’ll see.
