Fun stats: Hillsboro 54, Athens 37

Post by 93Bulldog »

Hillsboro had just 18 points at halftime.
Was 11-for-29 from the free throw line.
And still won the game by 17 pts.

Athens had 0 FG's in the 4th Q
Just 3 total FG's in the 2nd half.
Had 1 technical foul and 1 intentional foul in the 4th Q.
Was 8-for-18 from the line.

Both teams combined to go 19-of-47 from the chairty stripe.
It took over 25 minutes to play the last 4 min and 21 sec of the game.

Pretty much the ugliest game you'll ever see.

Sounds bad. I’m surprised Hillsboro won by 17

That happens when you only make 3 FG's the entire 2nd half.

Hillsboro just doesn’t have much offense so surprised they could out score by 17. It’s tough shooting on the away second half rims at Hillsboro, Athens has now learned that.

I'm curious how many times this has actually happened in OHSAA basketball. Athens had more technical fouls (1) than FG's (0) in the entire 4th Q. Do you think 10 perhaps? Maybe 20?

The bright side for the Dogs is they had a decent group of youngsters and JV team was solid. Perhaps more wins and better seasons are on the horizon.
