SHAC 2022/2023

Post by Hoopie74 »

Let's hear it for the Shac season after 1st week.

SHAC Big school:

Fairfield Lions:.
Speed, strength, size are all available with this squad. They are fierce and well coached. New coach Williams is unafraid to play anyone and it translates to his team.My pick in this division. Cannon,Mootz and Bennington lead this group.

North Adams Green Devils: Coach Copas has this group tuned. Not a lot of size but they have a great core that works like a clock. They think they can't be beaten, so we will see. Will be a hard out.Branson Copas , Kamden Buttleworth and Cody Hesler. Alot of interchangable parts with this high octane team .

Eastern Warriors:
Some size, very well coached( Rob Beucler) and seldom beat themselves. Upper half of big school SHAC.Christopher Young,Wyatt Haupt and Caleb Jimison will lead this squad. Defense is the name of this game.

Lynchburg Clay Mustangs:
The new coach here,Brian Callahan has given these guys a new MO.Pressure from gun to gun. Senior laden and firey. Bryce Brinkley,Brady Chisman and Ian Waits power the engine.

West Union Dragons:

This squad is rebuilding their program with New Coach Jeff Stricklett. They are very young and scrappy.Underclassmen is the name of the game here and they have some pieces coming along.I think Colby Harover and Gavin Jarvis will lead this team.

SHAC small school:

Fayetteville Rockets:
Coach DJ McCommons always brings a strong squad who have progressed far every year in the southwest Ohio tourny. They always have size and this year is no different. 6'7" Austin Snider patrols the paint, Caleb Tipis,Kendall Holden,Aj Attinger will make life miserable. By the end of the year everyone will hate to see Fayetteville on their schedule. Oh, they have freshman with a big KY name on this team. 6'6" Brody Feldhaus.Watch out for him in the future.

Whiteoak Wildcats:
Coach Ryan Barnett has been there for a bit so his style of play is entrenched in the DNA there.Well coached and fearless, the Wildcats will be led by the coaches son Landon Barnett. This senior laden squad know when the other teammates breathe so they work well as a unit. They have pretty good size and a good basketball IQ.

Peebles Indians:
Coach Arey is the glue that put this team together. Rebuild a is kind of a word for this team.Cory Reed and Zane Knechtly return to lead this squad. Size is a factor here,or a lack of it,but; heart is not a problem. Zane Porter will probably not play this year as he had Tommy John surgery this fall and his scoring option is not there. This squad has a lot of upper classmen who have come thru Coach Arey's system so it's interchangable parts are always there. Don't sleep on these boys,as they show up every night.Probably a 7 to 8 man rotation. Will be ready come March madness.High Basketball IQ .

Ripley Bluejays:
Coach Rex Woodward always has his team ready to scrap. They have a great mix of 9th -12th grade players on this squad.Mekhi Carsby ,Ansh Singh ,Chaystin Shields and a very scrappy Gus Gibbs set the tone to their game. They love to push it. Last night's Peebles /Ripley overtime game is going to be an every night event in this conference game in and game out. No one quits!! Ripley will do well in the southwest district again this spring.

Manchester Greyhounds:
New Coach Austin Kingsolver is excited to start teaching this young squad the game.Aaron Lucas,Quinton Lucas Karson Reeves and Drew Kennedy will lead this squad and the underclassmen into the new year. They will get better as the year goes as the freshmen and sophomores learn the game and get more playing time .They must learn the new coaching style. They will be a lot better by March.

There you have it. Let's hear everyone's thoughts as the year goes on.merry Christmas 🎄🎄

I think he was head coach at Warren Local from 1991-1994/95

He was in his last year at Eastern Pike in 1997-98 when I student taught there. He had a crazy talented team there…but stud guard Doug Williams was out with knee injury….but still loaded.
