This coming Saturday, Ohio State travels to College Park, MD to face the Maryland Terrapins. The contest offers the Buckeyes their last chance to address issues prior to The Game the following week.
On paper, Maryland should offer little resistance to State, but the Bucks last visit in 2018 saw OSU escape with a 52-51 overtime victory. So history indicates the potential for a trap game if OSU is caught looking ahead to Michigan.
Maryland's fortunes rise and fall on the health of QB Taulia Tagovailoa. He has the tools and receivers to challenge Ohio State's pass defense if the Buckeyes are sleepwalking.
For the Buckeyes, their main questions still surround the running game and the health of Miyan Williams and TreVeyon Henderson. Will freshman Dallan Hayden get the bulk of the carries to build experience?
The game is scheduled for a 3:30 kick on ABC.

Penn State took them down fairly easy. Ohio State by as many as they want. The Buckeyes will make turtle soup out of them this year like the Nitts did. Ohio State by 40.

Reports are that Miyan Williams should be good to go. Hopefully Henderson will be able to go as well to shake some rust off before The Game.

Ohio State needs to go out there and Play Ohio State football... Get the Job Done. THEY DO NOT need to look down the road. Take care of The Terrapins THEN prepare for THE GAME.

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day stated the obvious today. The return of Jaxon Smith-Njigba is no longer expected for the Buckeyes, but has been relegated to hope.

Not shocking. Would've been more surprised if he tried to come back again.Omega wrote: ↑Thu Nov 17, 2022 2:51 pm Ohio State head coach Ryan Day stated the obvious today. The return of Jaxon Smith-Njigba is no longer expected for the Buckeyes, but has been relegated to hope.

Harrison JR is far better.

2 weeks ago I would’ve said this game scares me. Maryland was sitting at 6-2 with both losses coming by a combined 10 points to undefeated ichigan & Purdue. Fast forward and they’ve lost 2 straight, that weren’t really all that close. Penn State spanked them, and the Buckeyes didn’t have a ton of trouble with Penn State. They barely beat Northwestern & Indiana before the 2 losses. Seems they are trending in the wrong direction. I’ll take the Buckeyes big here. Work on some things you feel are a weakness with the biggest college football game of the season on the horizon the following week. Ohio State 48 Maryland 13
Who Dey!

Ohio State reports that RB Miyan Williams and WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba are not available to play against Maryland.
TreVeyon Henderson will see action for the Buckeyes.

Ohio State survived, setting up a battle of two undefeated teams as the Buckeyes and Wolverines square off next Saturday in Columbus.
Maryland's Tua Tagovailoa deserved a better fate. He was 26 of 36 passing for 293 yards with 2 touchdowns against no interceptions. The Terps were stifled on the ground netting only 84 yards rushing pushing their total yards to 402 for the game.
For the Buckeyes, big defensive plays won the game. Luther Ransom blocked a punt that eventually led to a touchdown plus Steele Chambers scoop and score to seal the game as time was running out.
The only positive for the OSU offense was the performance of true freshman running back Dallan Hayden who carried the ball 27 times for 146 yards and 3 touchdowns in the second half.
Stroud was 18 of 30 passing for 241 yards and one touchdowns against no interceptions. State's recievers were well covered by Maryland. Stroud forced several balls into tight coverage and just looked off during the game.
Also Ohio State's inability to run the ball in short yardage situations reared its ugly head again. The offensive line failed to consistently to get push, raising their "toughness" into doubt. You also have to question OSU play calling trying to run outside instead of north-south.
Additionally , the Buckeye knack of racking up penalties surfaced again, as State was flagged 11 times.
Injury wise, TreVeyon Henderson appeared to be banged up again, Matt Jones was injured late, and CJ Stroud was limping towards the end of the game.
The Bucks survived, which is the best summation of the game.
