Re: 1/8/21 Webster @ West
Early bets were for SW but the way West has been playing lately, it’s hard to bet against the Senators. I’ll go West by 5-10 points. If the Jeeps can get hot from 3 point land, they can pull off the victory.
Re: 1/8/21 Webster @ West
Should be a very good game! As long as South Webster can handle the traps they will be right there in this game.

Assuming Collins should be in the game. Never did hear anything about his nose after the NW game.

Without Collins will be considered....I expect SW to prevail and show West that they own this series and while it might be closer, nothing has changed.

Re: 1/8/21 Webster @ West
Small guards have trouble passing against a long 1-3-1. Lower and Bender are small guards.
Zimmerman is a great shooter but it's difficult to get shots off the dribble against a 1-3-1, They need to come off the pass and he's the primary ball handler

JV Game
30-11 West at the half
65-18 West Final
Yikes
Coming into this game South Webster was down their #2 Scorer 6’2 Sophomore Will Collins who suffered an apparently bad broken nose last Saturday in the opening minutes vs NW. This effectively worsened the already non existent depth that we’ve had problems with for the better part of 10 years now. Mainly playing 6 players this season with only one with a lot of varsity experience before coming in has been tough. Not to mention the lack of size.
On the other side of the ball you have the West Winators, routinely bringing 10 men on the court every night with good size and athleticism. I had 10 West Siders on the floor on my notes tonight. Any team that can bring 10 vs 5 will likely win the ball game.
1st Quarter
The opening tip was controlled by 5’9 Jaren Lower vs 6’5 Moore for West. That would be about all that Webster controlled for the next 32 minutes.
West stretched out to an 8-0 Over the course of 6 minutes until TZ connected with a layup FINALLY with around 1:30 left in the quarter. Webster absolutely struggled with the 1-3-1 West has been bringing. I had started to count deflections and kicks but my pen would’ve ran out of ink making those marks. These kids for West will absolutely do whatever it takes to make ANY contact with the ball
Swanker Pine had 8 turnovers for Webster in the first and 5 for West. 10-2 West after 1
2nd Quarter
The second quarter opened with a Jeeps possession which then quickly became a West possession as seemed to be the theme of the night. SW struggled again and again to get the ball out of the Coffin Corners. A flurry of turnovers saw the West lead stretch to 20-2 at one point.
SW was able to get a spark from Connor Bender with a deep three about 5 minutes to go in the 2nd.
Cam Carpenter added in 3 free throws during the period and TZ added one more for the total of 7 points in the quarter. SW 2/19 shooting in the first half, 1/8 from 3 yikes.
West 9/29 First half
2/8 from 3
HALFTIME 25-9 WEST
Turnovers at the half were SW 15, West 12.
Some credit to Webster, they didn’t give up anything “Sweet” and hung in there on paper, the limit shots just would not fall.
8 players scored for West in the first half vs 3 for Webster

Re: 1/8/21 Webster @ West
2nd HALF
The third quarter started with a West possession, after a quick trip to the bucket and a miss, Jaren Lower hit a deep three to get on the board for Webster and cut the lead to 13 points. The blitz rotation from West’s bench never once let up the second half. Constantly bringing fresh legs and just being absolute DAWGS on D is what kept WEST in this game in the second half as they ended up only hitting 5 more shots in the second half.
I’d name more west players individually but it was hard to keep up with who was doing what when where why and how the whole time and also caused me to lose track of myself on the CHICKEN SCRATCH STATS
:25 Seconds remaining in the third saw Webster enter the bonus. Expendable bodies on the bench = more fouls to give and physicality. Siders were beating’ my boys up but somehow we managed to win the quarter 13-9 thanks to Lowers hot hand in the quarter.
34-22 Siders after THREE

Re: 1/8/21 Webster @ West
4th Quarter
West opened play in the 4th period which ultimately would turn into a free throw shooting match. Lower scores the first points of the 4th a deep three from Buena Vista to cut it to 9
At one point in the 4th Webster had cut the lead down to 8 and looked promising to make a comeback with around 5-6 minutes left in the game. Around this time Zimmerman apparently was hit in the face and had to come out of the game for a minute or so. Connor Bender fouled out which saw 6’4 Lane Bond come in to battle with West’s Moore under the bucket. Three quick fouls from Bond saw him return back to the bench. Mr. Moore was clutch from the line. Had him finishing with 9 points.
The 4th period ended up being a tie at 14-14
Ultimately The WEST SIDE WINATORS would pull away and keep it a 10-12 point game for the final 2 minutes. This was the first time I’ve watched West this year. They’re deep, they believe in DISRUPTION, they have good enough size to compete and they’ll absolutely be a wrench in somebodies season this year. If they shoot better than 29% from the field tonight, this is a blowout.
