Re: Magnolia (14-3) @ Fort Frye (13-2) 2/4
Magnolia is big and good at the post position.Their 3 losses have come from teams that press all the time. They have good skills and have played together for years. Youth, junior high and now high school. They qualified for the WV state tournament last year. They have struggled with ball handling and outside shooting. Fort Frye is a difficult gym to play in,but if they get the ball to the big girls they could cause the Cadets some problems.

Bellaire has two 1,000 scorers and a Jr who has the possibility of breaking 1,000 too depending on how far Bellaire advances. Even though Bellaire is averaging close to 70 a game, it's their defense that is impressive, forcing nearly 25 turnovers per game. Bellaire has four players averaging in double figures, but they also have some serious concerns. Lack of height and getting next to nothing from players 5-7. Get Bellaire in early foul trouble they may not recover.

Shadyside beat Bellaire. I think Fort can play with them. They are super young only one Sr.outerbanksjake wrote: ↑Sun Feb 03, 2019 2:23 pm Bellaire has two 1,000 scorers and a Jr who has the possibility of breaking 1,000 too depending on how far Bellaire advances. I think throughout the year, that Fort Frye plays better competition, therefore I'll take FF over Magnolia.

Shadyside is red hot especially on their home court. In their past three games they have made 43 3's and 164 on the season . Bellaire beat Shadyside by 9 at home , losing to Shadyside by 7 there. In the win over Bellaire Shadyside started the game with five made 3's jumping out to a 19-4 lead. Bellaire had the lead down to 2 with about two minutes to play, but a couple of turnovers ended any chance of a comeback.EasternDspy wrote: ↑Sun Feb 03, 2019 11:31 pmShadyside beat Bellaire. The team to keep an eye on is River.

Fort Frye lost to River in OT. It was a fluke River held the ball. On a neutral court I like Fort Frye. I’d say Shadyside is favorite but Fort is right there

The plus and new weapon for River is the sudden emergence of Allie Long. River returns all five starters from their OVAC Championship Team from a year ago. Long has been injured the past two years and a new starter . She is 5'10 and starting to dominate. In the River loss at Bellaire Long had 26 points and 12 rebounds, she was sick and did not play in the loss at Shadyside. Flannery ( daughter of football coach ) is the best girl player in this local area. Flannery is averaging over 23 ppg.
IMO on a neutral court I'd go with River over Shadyside.
BTW, I'm friends with the father of a FF soph on the team.

If they are so much more talented why did they feel they had to run stall? Good teams don’t stall in my opinion. Fort was 3 seed choose to pick Rivers side over Shadyside.outerbanksjake wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 2:14 pm The plus and new weapon for River is the sudden emergence of Allie Long.
