Anyone have league standings ?

The lady Trojans defeated Ironton 12-5 this evening. The Trojans improve to 15-2 (9-0 OVC). Portsmouth has a 3 game lead in the OVC with 5 league games left.

The PHS softball team is closing in on an OVC championship.......it would be nice to see them go undefeated in conference play.

Part of the the equation to winning is staying healthy. There’s been a lot of teams using pitchers in pointless innings of games the last several years. With these pitchers throwing a fall travel season, HS season, summer travel season and lessons and side work all year long its no surprise their bodies break down. While the underhand motion associated with softball pitching is more natural, the internal rotation style of pitching will involve the rotator cuff to a greater degree. With higher velocities you will start to see more bicep tendon and labrum tears in the pitchers. Sheer force of certain pitches and increased velocity will start to stress the UCL similar to baseball pitchers. The driving, landing and rotational stresses of softball pitching is similar to that of a baseball player. Coaches need to start taking the health of their pitchers more seriously. You are starting to see some college softball programs building their pitching staffs like baseball teams. Unfortunately it hasn’t trickled down to HS yet. Coaches need to protect the future of these players and let some #2’s and #3’s pitch those pointless innings.

Updated standings above with 5/4 games. The OVC championship will come down to the final game. If Portsmouth beats Ironton, they clinch outright. If Ironton wins, you would have tri-champions in Portsmouth, Rock Hill and Ironton.
