Can Hiland be stopped?

Post by West Rowan Falcons »

Not only a basketball school, but the baseball rolling through the tournament so far.
beat Malvern 13-0
beat Rosecrans 13-0
beat Toronto 13-1
beat Conotton Valley 13-1

Don't know much about South Webster (Regional opponent) but they better have some pitching.

What's the word on SW and the teams in the other bracket - Galion and Whiteoak?

On paper it looks like this regional is Hiland’s to lose. But, they haven’t made a Final Four since 2017 when they were D3. And there’s been some years, since then, when they were D4 it looked like Beavers Field was their’s for the taking.

This year… they’re probably a considerable favorite vs SW. Whiteoak’s opponent is still unknown.

Hiland is definitely the favorite....but SW can play. They own wins over D3 district Champs Valley and Wheelersburg.

Yeah, Webster will be just fine pitching-wise.*

No
Hiland is a school that encourages the students to play all sports. It shows each year.

Another 13 runs for Hiland? They keep scoring 13 runs every game and where was Webster's pitching? Hard to figure.

Webster pitching had shutout both Wheelersburg and Valley this season (both D3 Regional teams, and Burg probably heading to State). It now obvious Hiland is a different animal in D4! Great season for Jeeps and best of luck to Hiland the rest of the way*

I’d be interested to see if Russia gambles and tries to hold back Phlipot for the title game. Have to get to the title game, first, for it to work.

I think Hiland wins it all. Russia is tough though.

“What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object?”

When Russia’s on their ‘A’ game they are possibly better than Hiland is on ‘A’ game, but if Russia has a B or B- minus game they’re more vulnerable in my eyes than if Hiland has a B or
B- game.

The Schlabach kid from Hiland, who pitched versus Whiteoak, would need to pitch his best game IMO to beat Russia if they burn Yoder on Calvert in the semi’s on Thursday. He has some gas but even with a friendly zone vs Whiteoak he ran into some general command issues. I believe the ‘Cats obtained five runners via walks/HBP’s in five innings.

Russia can hit speed and can see the ball well. Whoever toes the rubber for the Raiders will have to pitch their butts off too, because if anyone east of I-75 can be a worthy enough batting adversary to beat Russia it’s… Hiland.

Hiland and Russia both pull off extra inning wins today in the State Semi-Finals.
They will play for the State Title on Saturday night.

That was very impressive. What an explosive offense.
Only had 1 close game. Averaged 8 runs a game.
Had to look up what Hiland did.
Malvern 13-0
Rosecrans 13-0
Toronto 13-1
Conotton Valley 11-1
South Webster 13-1
Whiteoak 8-0
Tiffin Calver 4-1
Russia 14-4

The close game could very well have been the game that eliminated them. They came out on the benefitting side of a call that, had it not been made, would’ve likely put them away.
