We take our baseball here at Athens very serious. It is our schools most consistent program. We have a solid team again this year with a lot of young talent getting chances to take big strides this season along with the very talented senior and junior class.

Our consistency probably is because we have had the honor to have the same Coach, Coach Gibson at our school for 20+ years. Also, we have had a great Varsity Assistant with our program Chris Stewart who has brought his pitching expertise with him and has really solidified our pitchers.

I happen to be the Junior Varsity Coach, have been the coach for 6 years and also am an Athens Alumnus who played for Coach Gibson. I take responsibility in getting my players Varsity ready by seasons end so they can either go up for Tournement Play to help out, or to get them ready for the following season...

Go Bulldogs!

I sure hope the JV coach is a better coach than he was a player ... I mean seriously, the guy wasn't tall or quick enough to play short-stop, was no better than a back-up catcher, couldn't hit and couldn't throw a curve ball when he tried to pitch ... Did I mention he wasn't even the best player in his own family? ... Or best athlete for that matter - heck, his younger sister can jump higher!

Oh, I see him quite often Bulldog64 ... Driving around the neighborhood in his flashy silver Camero, sporting the ultra cool shades ... I'm not to worried, if he's still as slow as he was on the gridiron - I'll have no problem getting away.

(BTW - Bulldog64) ... I have some photos from last year that Ive been using on the web site - but I'm not sure about some of the numbers and who each player is ... I was really just needing to find out who some of the under classmen were - that are playing this year. (i.e Dean Maffin wore #10 last year) ... I guess if I could obtain a roster from last year; that would probably work ... It just makes team pages on the site look better if I have names under each photo.

Athens varsity is a very solid squad. As for their jv, not so solid.
