All-District baseball teams released

Post by swbaseballfan »

Thirty-six area players and two coaches made the Southeast All-District teams released at the conclusion of the district baseball tournaments.

The teams, one for each division with the exception of Divisions I and II which are combined, include first team, second team and honorable mention categories as well as Coach of the Year Awards.

In Division IV, the coach of the year was South Webster's Shanen Zimmerman who led Jeeps to a winning record this season in the SOC II. A handful of Jeep players were honored as well with senior pitcher John Morrisette making first team along with teammate Brent Smith. Morrisette was also chosen by Division IV coaches to play in the Mizuno All-Ohio Series June 11 and 12 at the V.A. in Chillicothe.

The bulk of the Division IV list belonged to SOC players.

Notre Dame's Brock Hannah and Tyler Noel made first team as did Green's Matt Ratcliff and Caleb Lewis.

East's Justin Crager made first team with Symmes Valley's Luke Taylor and Tyler Eastham.

Division III featured Wheelersburg coach Michael Estep as Coach of the Year. The Pirates are 30-1 and will compete in the state tournament on June 3 against Hamilton Badin at Huntington Park at 4 p.m.

The Pirates had a pair of first-team selections in Andrew Elliott and Nick Kemper.

Minford and Valley had two players on first team as well with Ray Bryan and Aaron Oesch making the list for the Falcons and Alex Holcomb and Zach Bukiewicz making it for the Indians.

Jared Delong made first team for Northwest, Anthony Knittel was selected from West and Tyler Walls made the team for Oak Hill. Portsmouth's lone selection was Josh Myers.

On the Division I-II first team were Harrison Martin and Derek Roback of Waverly.

Although I appreciate your time spent posting this list, I don't think it is completely accurate...

It looks like the same list printed in the paper.

Congrats to all the area players who made the Southeast District Team, but especially to Nick Kemper, Andrew Elliot, Brandon Hall, and Bryce Hall of Wheelersburg. I have watched these kids play baseball since their T-Ball days and not only are they great ballplayers they are all great kids as well.

You forgot the other DIII team. The team with the kids from Warren, Athens, Marietta, and Galia are DII. The other DIII team should have kids from Adena, Hunnington, Westfall, Belpre,etc... Im from Belpre and i know Tyler Watkins made 1st team.

This is just the Southeast Ohio list that was post in Portsmouth Daily Times. The other young men might have been in another Distict or just not posted on our local paper. Congrat to Josh Myers and the rest of the local players that made the list.
