Gallipolis edges Ironton, 5-4

Post by jottings »

Visiting Gallipolis slipped past Ironton 5-4 in a South Division baseball game Wednesday evening.

The victory improved Gallia Academy’s season record to 6-1 and in the Southeastern Ohio Athletic League’s Southern Division the triumph left GAHS alone in first place with a 3-0 record.

Meanwhile, Ironton dropped to 5-2 overall and 1-2 in South Division action.

In other SEOAL games Wednesday, Jackson surprised 4-1 Portsmouth, 16-3, Logan blanked defending South Division champion Chillicothe 3-0 and Warren Local remained unbeaten in the North Division with an 8-2 victory over Marietta. The Warriors are 3-0 in North Division action.

In Wednesday’s game at Ironton, GAHS had five runs on six hits and no errors. Ironton had four runs on eight hits and committed two errors.

Justin Bailey was credited with his third win of the season. Chuck Calvart held off the Tigers in the bottom of the seventh to preserve the Gallians sixth straight win. Josh Pancake was charged with the loss.

Six Blue Devils each had one safety in the victory—Caleb Warnimont, Tyler Eastman, Kyle Dingess, Terry Smith, Chuck Calvart and Bailey.

Gallipolis will host Portsmouth in a twinbill Saturday, beginning at 3 p.m. Ironton will play a twinbill at Jackson Saturday.

You can't be serious?? I've been to many games in different sports and the LOCAL chapter in Ironton normally takes care of the Tigers.
