2010 W-BURG Baseball

Post by PIRATE FAN »

What are some thoughts on the line-up and pitching for the 2010 season. Will they compete for the SOC.

The Pirates will be among the top in the SOC 2 this season. This team will be similar to last years squad since they only lost 3 full time starters. They will also be looking to fill the #2 and #3 pitching spots as well. Wright State bound Elliott will anchor the pitching staff but like last season they will need to find a solid #2 in the rotation. Luster threw some innings last season as well as Bryce Hall. Look for those 2 to fill the #2 and #3 pitching spots. If they find it, look for another SOC crown and deep tourney run.

Not sure how the batting order might shake out. I would think Kemper would move to the 3-hole. Elliiot maybe at #2. Others to watch will be Bryce Hall, Brandon Hall, O'Leary, Parsley, Leach, Luster, and Shears.

Valley is always a tough contender and return alot of players. Waverly will be strong and don't overlook NW and Minford. Not sure about Webster and Oak Hill.

Look for the Pirates to have another good year, its hard to replace the big bats from Hopper and White, but I think some of the kids will step up. Since none of boys are playing basketball they have been hitting, and thowing (thanks to T. Martin).

I think the pitching rotation should be....
#1 Andrew Elliott
#2 Drew Elliott
#3 Andy Elliott

Once again, Coach Estep will have plenty of baseball players competing for playing time for the Pirates this season. The Little League program and jr. high teams have been a good feeding ground for the j.v. and varsity program. Mike Estep is an outstanding coach and person.

The freshman class has a pretty solid group. I do not think any of the freshman will be on the varsity roster but will get plenty of playing time at JV.

There should be some strong bats this year with the senior class. How many juniors are starters?

Burg over West tonight 11-5, called early due to weather, the Murphy boy for West can flat stroke the ball, very nice swing- setting up a showdown with Valley this week ;-)

Burg Over Ironton tonight 6-1 wasnt pretty but a w is a w. Dissapointed in the way that the ironton dugout disrespects the game
