Athens P21 American Legion Baseball Tryouts

Post by g w mclintock »

The 2009 edition of Athens KT Crossen Post 21 American Legion Baseball should provide an exciting season for everyone involved. This will be the 6th year that Post 21 has fielded both a Junior squad and a Senior American Legion Team.

Our goal as coaches is to provide an unforgettable summer experience that enriches each of our participants as baseball players and quality young men.

We understand that certain players will have other committments this summer (camps, summer leagues, vacations, etc.). Our coaching staff will try to formulate our rosters to maximize the opportunities for each of our players. We have cooperated with the area basketball, football and baseball coaches for the past several summers and will continue to do so. This year we plan on having 13-18 players (on each squad) depending on how our schedules fit with other scheduled camps and activities.

P21 Baseball Tryouts (Junior and Senior) will be May 26th & 27th, 5:00 pm @ Rannow Field (Athens High School). Any changes to this schedule will be posted on http://www.p21baseball.net

Here is the direct link to tryout info: http://www.p21baseball.net/FRIENDS_OF_THE_PROGRAM.php#2009_Tryout_Info

The Senior team coaches will again be Larry Bean and Brent Chadwell. This year's Junior team will be coached by Kyle Lonas and Greg Grimm.

There are no lower age limits. Usually the junior teams is 15-17 year olds but has had 14's in the past. Just depends on the player and the talent level of the entire group...

We have always encouraged the younger players to attend tryouts if for no other reasons than to check out the competition and prepare for the following year. We scout players for the senior team all spring but we can't always see all the younger players.

We have handed out flyers at the local high school games but if you need more info try this link http://www.p21baseball.net/FRIENDS_OF_THE_PROGRAM.php#2009_Tryout_Info

I'm a student at Ohio University and I am still eligible to play another year of Legion Baseball. Since Athens is my current adress, would i still be able to come to tryouts if i get relased from my previous team?

Due to the District Tournament games to be played this week at Athens High School and other team conflicts there will not be any open fields this week.

Good Luck to the area teams in the tourney and we will see you all at tryouts on the 26th.
