2012 SOC II Champs?

Post by SEOfaithful »

Competition should be tough this year, a lot of teams returning some good players. List who you expect to finish on top of the league in 2012.
1. Wheelersburg
2. Valley
3. Minford
4. West
5. Waverly
6. Oak Hill
7. Northwest

Wheelersburg and Valley seem to always have great talent and they both return several key players. Minford and West are not to be overlooked though, they both will compete for the league title. My sleeper pick though is definitely Oak Hill, I believe if things go their way that they could surprise a lot of people. Your thoughts?

I posted this in a seperate thread already this year so I'm copying it to this one. Wheelersburg will win and Waverly and Valley will be solid as usual for the 2 and 3 spots. Minford will be 4th. They don't have the standout player's like Oesch or Farmer anymore but they know how to play and they can compete. Coming in 5th will be West. 6th belongs to Oak Hill. 7th Northwest. 8th South Webster.

Many athletes in this conference but I see Burg and Valley battling it out for it all.

I'm going to say Valley wins the conference...I think winning the SOC II in football, and currently being undefeated in the SOC in basketball (with 4 games left) the athletes who played on the football team also play on the hoops team, and most will be on the diamond.

These kids know how to win, and are looking to collect the 3rd SOC2 trophy in as many sports.

Alot of ball to play before anyone can start shining the trophies. I think the whole conference will strong again. Burg, valley, west, & Waverly should all be strong & Minford should be much improved. Hope my Indians can rise to the challenge.

Word is that Yates is considering playing his Senior season , if this is true that will complete the team that came in 5th in the State Little League tournament in Boardman . Yates has always been the leader of this class of Seniors he brings confidence to an already stacked team !

I think since Yates hasn't played baseball since he was 12 years old it is unrealistic to expect him to come in and be able to hit very well. It is huge jump from little league to high school baseball and baseball was by far his weakest sport at that time. However, I think defensively and as a base runner he would be very good quickly.

Reality is ......... He is a leader. He could bunt every ab & hit .300. With coach schuler & the other seniors Blake would be just fine. He would contribute to the team in many, many ways. I for one am not worried at all about the physical or mental aspect of not playing for several years. He is a very athletic young man & would have a lot of fun playing the game again with his senior buddies. Can't wait to see him on the diamond!

I know burg is 5-0 in the conference and 7-0 on the year, putting them in first place of the SOC. Does anyone know the rest of the standings in the SOC?

This is all I know as of now:
Burg 8-0 (6-0) this week: 4/9 @Minford, 4/11 @OH, 4/13 vs. SW, 4/14 GC (DH)
West 9-1 (5-1) only loss to Burg 13-2
Valley 7-4 (5-1)
Waverly 9-4 (3-3) losses to Burg & West, wins over Webster, Minford & Oak Hill.
Minford 5-7 (?-?)
Oak Hill
Northwest
South Webster

If anyone can fill in any of the blanks, please post the records.
