Warren 4
Marietta 1

Pitchers duel matching Warren's Daniel Wagner against the Tigers Evan Brockmeier. Not a lot of hitting with a stiff breeze blowing in. The difference in the game was Warren's 3 errors did not hurt them because of a Marietta baserunning blunder and the Tiger's errors really cost them. This game could have gone either way. The 3rd installment at Pioneer Park is going to be a good one.

Gallia 9
Warren 7

I wasn't able to go but wife kept me informed to some degree. Warren jumped up 6-1 on HR's by Jeremy Murphy and Daniel Wagner. Gallia came back after Warren made some errors. It seems if the Warriors make errors it costs them dearly. Any Gallia faithful there to give me a true idea of how the game went...you know Mother's perspective of things.

Warren 11
Athens 8

Athens came out slugging the ball in the first inning and held 6-0 lead in the third inning. The Warrior bats then came to life and the pitching settled down for a hard fought win. Josh Ward, Tyler Proctor and Daniel Wagner pitched for Warren. I believe Doug Chapman started for Athens and did well early. Tyler Spence had 3 hits for Warren, Cory Hooper, Wagner, Proctor, Jeremy Murphy and David Lemon all contributed hits.

Some of this is covered above, but ...

Southeastern Ohio Athletic League baseball at Warren Wednesday

Warren 11,
Athens 8

Athens had 6-0 lead in first three innings, then 6-3, 7-5, then Warren scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning -- popup, single-picked off first so two out and none on followed by five hits and three walks for 11-7 lead .. Athens added one run in the sixth and had tying run at plate in the top of the seventh.
Athens outhit Warren 13-9 but gave up nine walks.

An early Athens-Warren game at Warren was postponed and re-scheduled for May 2 .. then Athens-Warren game at Athens was postponed so Warren has agreed to come to Athens on May 2 for double header -- will start at 5 p.m. so it will finish under the lights . Between the lights, new sod in the infield and then more new sod between home plate and backstop .. green windscreen on the outfield fence.... big new scoreboard in left center thanks to Pepsi (score for each inning for 10 innings, total runs, balls-strikes-out
Rannow Field is becoming more of a showpiece than it already was..

Going into the weekend the Zanesville Blue Devils won 2 non-league games this week to push their record to 16-1. They topped Parkersburg South 11-3 Tuesday night at Gant Municipal Stadium behind stellar pitching and 4 RBI's from senior Adam Young. They won a crosstown non league game tonight against Tri Valley 14-4 in 6 innings behind timely hitting and great pitching. Shane Miller led the offense with a double and 3 singles and 4 RBI's while senior Brandon Smith pitched a complete game scattering 4 hits. The Scotties were helped by 6 errors committed by the devils defense which is not a good sign, but did get a huge over the shoulder catch early in the game by sophomore Kurt Young in left that prevented extra bases and 2 runs when the game was still close at 4-1 in the 3rd inning. Good Luck Devils Saturday at Marietta.
