That's only if Newark beats Trimble. We're not a strong as we have been so who knows who will be in the championship game. TCC is ranked #2 in the AP poll and they just beat #1 Toronto in their districts. So I would say they are the favorites at Lancaster.

Oh well obviously they are the favorite lol but i was just checkin to see if Newerk was in the regionals as well..I know this is 4 years in a row Southern has made it to Regionals...how many has it been for Newerk?

I believe this is the 5th year in a row Newark has made it to the regionals. 2005 Fisher Catholic beat them and in 2001 Cardington beat them in the districts.

I know Toronto produces good baseball players year-in-and-year out ... it's like the IRONTON (football) of baseball in their neck of the woods ... If TCC knocked them off and is ranked No. 2 in the state - Southern might have actually been better off facing a Newark Catholic team that is under .500.

I know Athens played a team (Fairport Harding) during the season that was ranked 4th in the A.P Division IV - and only lost 4-3 in nine innings I believe it was ... If Athens could hang with a team that was so-called ranked in the top 5 - I am willing to bet Southern could do the same if they go out and play hard and pitch well. I covered the Southern/Newark Catholic game last year in Lancaster and the contest was somewhat close for awhile ... and the Green Wave was really, really good with a really really good record at the time.

There is no reason why the Tornadoes couldn't go into Lancaster and pul off a shocker .... it all comes down to how well your team can pitch and if they are capable of keeping you in the game ... If the Tornadoes pitching staff can keep their hitters off balance with a lot of 'off-speed' stuff - they will have a chance. It seems every team at the Regional level can all crush the ball and rip just about anyones fastball - its the 'junk ballers' that allows an underdog to pull an upset IMO.

Go Does, just don't think that TCC isn't just as good this year as some of the previous NC teams you have played in the semi's were. As everyone in Southeast Ohio knows, there is a good ballclub ahead of you anytime you see the word "St. Francis or Bishop" as the first names of or "Academy or Catholic" as the last name of any school.
