* The starting pitcher for Athens (Dean Maffin) looked extreemly sharp today ... for a sophomore, that kid has some filthy stuff!

If they can keep that kid pitching like he did tonight, they have a real good shot of winning the TVC-Ohio (especially with Jared Cline, who is probably considred the no. 1)... Not many high school pitchers can throw a curveball and change-up like he was throwing - which of course makes the fastball better than what it really is -

Not that he doesn't have a nice heater, cause he does (above average for any age in high school, let alone 16) but mixed in what the off speed stuff, man, it looked pretty from behind the backstop.

No doubt. It's Athens league to lose now. Maffin is a great athlete. I got the chance to watch him quite a bit this past summer and he is a great pitcher and 3rd baseman.
