Jackson volleyball team Volley For The Cure

Post by Keyser_sozeThrice »

The Ironladies are involved with the Volley For The Cure this season, which the match takes place during the annual Apple Festival Tournament.

Just getting the word out here to everyone who wishes to attend or help by donating.

The Ironladies are serving up another kill against breast cancer.

The Jackson High School volleyball team is participating in the Volley For The Cure 2009, which aims to increase awareness of breast cancer among high school students, staff and the community, and to raise funds for the Ohio affiliates of the Susan G.Komen for the Cure.

The Ironladies' actual Volley For The Cure match will be held during the team's annual Apple Festival Tournament, which is set this season for Saturday, Sept. 26 at Jackson High School.

The four-team tournament also includes Oak Hill, Wellston and Vinton County, and begins at 10 a.m.

The exact matchups have yet to be determined.

The Ironladies will wear special pink uniforms that day, and all money raised will go to help the Susan G. Komen for the Cure — the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.

A split-the-pot raffle will be held that day as well.

The Ironladies are accepting donations for the Volley for The Cure, and a link and instructions on how to donate are now available on the Jackson City Schoolswebsite (www.jcs.k12.oh.us).

Check out some of the nice prizes and the serving contest they are having with this.

Just getting the word out there.

Prizes available at Volley for The Cure

The Jackson Ironlady volleyball support group has announced available raffle prizes for Saturday’s Volley for The Cure as part of the annual Apple Festival Tournament at Jackson High School.

The Jackson High School volleyball team is participating in the Volley For The Cure 2009, which aims to increase awareness of breast cancer among high school students, staff and the community, and to raise funds for the Ohio affiliates of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

The prizes are donated by Geiger Brothers, Inc.

Among the available raffle prizes is the grand prize 42-inch Sanyo television set, along with an I-Touch and a Jackson City Schools Athletics Family Pass.

Tickets cost $5 for six chances.

There will be other smaller prizes to be included in the drawing leading up the grand prize giveaway of the television.

There will also be a serving contest in between games.

The Jackson varsity players will sit on the floor in various spots on one side of the net.

Each Ironlady will have a cash envelope, and one Ironlady will have an envelope with a pink I-Pod.

Contestants will pay $1 for a serve and take the chance of hitting one of the players.

Whatever player a contestant hits, he or she will win the prize in the envelope of which that girl is holding.

Contestants will not know the amount for the cash prize until they open the envelope.

The pink I-Pod is being donated by Geiger Brothers, Inc., as the cash prizes are being donated by Dr. Ted Nichting of optometrists Nichting, Green and Sargent.

The four-team Apple Festival Tournament also includes Oak Hill, Wellston and Vinton County, and begins at 10 a.m.

In addition, the original matchups have been changed.

Oak Hill will now face Vinton County in the first match, followed by Jackson and Wellston.

The two winners will play in the championship game followed by the consolation tilt.
