X, all teams were shortened that season due to Zane Trace overscheduled and had to forfeit their whole season i believe and all other teams voided the 2 games each played. Quite the " whoops " if you asked anyone from that time period. somebody didn't count correctly. As far as 15 years from now, i think the U will be remembered with more passion as the run that was made last year and what is hopefully about to happen will stick.

Warningtrack, one could argue that an elite passer is unable to show their ability if the opposition cannot hit. That is why the total body of work (season) should be judged. We could "argue" this point forever, but I still believe you cannot have 3 elite players (in your top 14) in the SVC and finish 8-6 and you certainly cannot have 2 elite players and finish 5-9. That is unless the you agree that the "top three" have more. But as previously mentioned, it is time to focus on the tournament run and support ALL of these fine young ladies on their journey.
Wonder why the yearly stats reported on SVCSPORTSZONE.COM don't add up to the record-setting stats being reported this year? Are the previous years stats not complete or am I just bad at math?
iknow,
As a parent of one of the young ladies that has some of these "record-setting" stats, allow me to thank you for interest in insuring the accuracy of these stats. If it is the case that you need verification for your record keeping on any of Alayna's stats, please do not hesitate to call or text me at 740-703-6075, and I will get it to you expediently. Also, I do appreciate the fact that through your insuations you bring these issues to light in a public forum where you can remain anonymous, while subjecting these HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT-ATHLETES to some public scrutiny that you will not be under because of your anonymity. Your sincerity in insuring only the best for our local student-athletes is indeed much appreciated.

Did not mean to strike a nerve with you. I was simply pigging-backing on some conversation on another thread concerning the reporting of stats and the accuracy of such. No where did I scrutinize HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETES as I assume they do not report their own stats. I have no idea what was reported in your situation as I and everyone else knows that she has dominated the league for 4 years. Be proud that you have the 4 time defensive player of the year and enjoy your tournament run that should reach the regionals at least.

Thank you to the SVC fans for all the support! Last week's show was our most successful show in our four-year history. This week's show has vb discussion continued as well as some FAIR/UNFAIR, and Unioto football has a chance to join some unwanted elite company in terms of recent Ohio history - here is the link to this week's show...

Another quality pod cast production by the svcsportszone.com and DBKmediaservices.com
A lot of talking points to cover, more than the X could keep notes on.
But here are the ones that I retained:

Football numbers- I had heard earlier this season that the number of high school football players in the state of Ohio is down 10,000 from 2004. Did the X hear that from you guys or was it from another media source? Am I correct on that number or is the X all wet?

Volleyball popularity in our area-
On a recent camping trip in where many of our community participate.
I noticed at several campsites (well over half) young girls/kids passing volleyballs.
On the other hand I might have seen two footballs all weekend.
It seems at a young age girls are identifying with volleyball.
I believe this plays a huge role in the success we see in SVC volleyball.

The Big Three not tournament tempered because of league/schedule??????
This must have came from an SVC volleyball newbie or somebody that only follows the league from afar.
The SVC has 5 sectional champions, and as you guys alluded to the Big Three all played highly seated and or Sectional champions in non conference action.
Maybe the competition was not that bad.
Maybe, just maybe, the Big Three are that good.
Also newbie's to the world of SVC volleyball need to realize the summer tournament schedule the top teams have. These tournaments really help the teams get ready for all aspects of the coming season
Unioto had some girls play in a Columbus league this summer.
Unioto also played in Adena's, Bloom Carroll, and Sports Express summer tournaments. With all three of those tournaments having some of the top talent the state has to offer.
I'm sure Adena, Westfall, Zane Trace and Huntingtons summer schedules are equally challenging.
So the X scuffs at the notion that the local volleyball scheduling is below par.

As for the talented Southeastern hitter in the 8th grade championship game.
Her name is Hice and yes she can bring the heat.
But the X has a little information that will surprise you.
Wait for it....
Wait for it.....
She won't be playing for Southeasterns varsity next year
Because she is only in 7th grade!
In two years the Panthers will be hunting at the front of the SVC pack,
As always you heard it here first.
X

Nice coverage tonight by WKKJ,
Covering two of the three games being played by SVC teams tonight.
We are lucky to have that kind support for our volleyball teams.

The SVC went 3 for 3 tonight in district semi action.
Westfall, Southeastern and The U all added check marks in the Win column for the SVC tonight.
(See my above post for the SVC tournament results)

That gives the SVC for sure 1 team in the regionals as Westfall and Southeastern will face each other for the District title.

Adena will face Nelsonville York for the district title.
While
Unioto in a rematch of last years D2 District final will face the Athens Bulldogs.

Huntington has The Burg Thursday night, with the winner being the odds on favorite to win that districts title.

Huntington's match against the ' Burg tonight should be pretty good.

Truly impressive to see four SVC teams and maybe five in district championships. SVC is a fantastic volleyball conference.

Wheelersburg beat Huntington tonight in 5... was a great match with Wheelersburg winning set 1 & 3... Huntington winning sets 2 & 4... then Wheelersburg winning 18-16... Great match by 2 really good teams!
Now I have to at least mention this... Alayna Lytle got her 2000th career dig in the 1st set! She needed 11 coming in and ended the night with 43!

Congrats to Alayna.
She is a special player and a bench mark for future lady Huntsmen
and SVC volleyball players alike.

The X was listening in on my iheart radio app when it went into
"buffering mode"
-(what ever the heck that is, it should be called you hear nothing mode)-
This "BUFFERING" happened in the 5th set with the score 13-14
And Huntington on a serving tear.
When the X got the App working again the score was 16-16.
I feel cheated.
The X sure was rooting for 5 SVC teams to the district finals,
and we just came up a little short.

In time young grasshopper, in time...

I've decided not to predict the outcomes and scores because I wanted everyone to enjoy "watching" these tournament matches without "knowing". It would be like reading the last page of a great novel, and who wants to do that?

X, my posts will be limited as I have come down with a case of evolleybola. My fever has "spiked" and I have "dug" deep but I just can't "block" that pathogen. I guess it's in my blood to stay.

I'll leave you with the words that a great sage and predictor of the future once said, "Stuffing instead of potatoes"

Just done listening X2.....
Two thumbs up on this weeks show,
It's funny you brought up the Cox story,
As I was watching the Athens match a former
Great Sherman and Hall of Famer, David Bettendorf, reminded me of
"The Bee and The Buss" incident that happened to his
Sherman's baseball team in the early 80's.
While on their way to the regional final game in Springfield.
As disciples of baseball coach Donny Neff,
The X is sure the brothers Combs has heard the story.
If not I will share it with you at a later time.
ManitouDan wrote:didnt read any of the vball stuff on here but its clear the X is Tyrion Lannister .
Well ManitouDan since you are late to
The 2014 SEOP's SVC volleyball folly
should we give you the role of :
"The 'Late Walder Frey',
Old Hoster Tully called him that because
Walder didn't get any men to the Trident in time for battle.
The X likes you, I'm a fan of your work on the softball forum.
I don't care for Walder, like the Black Fish said
"I've had wet (BLEEP) I like better than Walder Frey."
So I can not saddle you with that Game of Thrones characterchure.
No The X likens you more to Strong Belwas,
however it doesn't look like Strong will be in the television series.
Hmmm just like your really not in the volleyball conversation...........
As for Tyrion
The X couldn't really give anybody that one,
It would be like little kids
trying to decide when playing Cowboys and Indians
All the cool kids want to be the Indians.
As would be all the cool posters on this forum want to be Tyrion
But thanks for the comparison, the X takes it as a compliment.
Tyrion is easily in the X's top 5 all time fictional characters
#1 is Ralphie from "A Christmas Story"
#2 is John Gault "Atlas Shrugged"
#3 is Tyrion "A Song of Fire and Ice"
#4 is Beowulf "Eaters of the Dead"
#5 is Daryl Dixon "Walking Dead"

Now non fiction
#1 Prince "Purple Rain"
#2 Si Robertson "Duck Dynasty"
#3 Jase Robertson "Duck Dynasty"
#4 Morris Day "Purple Rain"
#5 Bob Uecker " Major League"

Sorry I digressed there

Anyway MNTD
"And my friend Hhssoftball would have agreed"
If softball was as thrilling of a sport as volleyball is
we could have an EPIC thread like this on that forum.....

Hodor!
