Wow, Athens (20-5) had its dream season come to an end after it was up 2-matches-to-0 during Wednesday's district semi-final at Southeastern High School.
Athens beat Washingotn Court House 25-23, 25-23 in games one and two to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match. The Blue Lions stormed back to win 25-20 in the third game, and then 25-13 in game four.
A thrilling 5th had to be played and both teams found themsleves locked into a see-saw battle where every point was magnified X10 ... They fought to a 15-15 tie before Court House (21-4) pulled away with a 17-15 victory.
The moral of the story - if you watch your team go down 2-0 - don't ever give up and don't lose hope!

What a volleyball match!! I wish the Bulldogs would have been victorious. What an emotional train wreck for the losing team in a VB battle like this one. Best wishes to the Athens players, returners have a productive and safe off-season, work hard and come back with a vengence next year.
