Lady Trojans Runner Up at Ironton Tourney

The Lady Trojans traveled to Ironton for a tournament today. They started the tournament against Boyd Co. Ky. The girls beat Boyd Co in 2 sets 25-11, 25-16 with aggressive play and strong serving. In the second game of the day the girls beat Coal Grove 25-22, 25-17 and was lead by a strong group on the front line. This put the girls in the final against a good River Valley team. The Trojans lost 25-22, 25-20 for a runner up finish but were just a few breaks away from an upset. Several of the girls played well today including Hannah Foster (JR), Kasey Simpson (Soph), Ruthie Stanley (SR), Klaire Smith (SOPH), and Aija Johnson (JR). Hannah had several digs along with multiple kills in each match. She's a very good athlete and it shows on the court. Kasey Simpson was all over the floor with several digs on the day. She gets better and better every game as the bruises indicate. Ruthie Stanley set the girls up in every match with tons of assists and solid front line play all day long. Aija played well and seemed to bring her A game to the court today, if she gives this effort each game this team can be pretty good. Klaire Smith played a bigger roll today in the absence of Monica Call and played very well. The lineup that Coach Stanley put on the court today was much more athletic and it showed in the teams overall play. The Lady Trojans are 5-9 on the season and looked much better today. If they played every game with the energy and enthusiasm they did today they have a good chance at an above .500 record for the season. We need to make sure everyone stays on the same page and gives maximum effort. This team can not afford anyone not giving 100%, everyone is needed. As was evident today, if we give our all we have a chance of winning every game. Lady's keep working hard and it will pay off for you down the road. GO LADY TROJANS VOLLEYBALL!
