This game is one for the ages. Waterford was the underdog in this battle if you read anything about the hawks. Jerry Close is creating a dynasty. These teams he has coached over the years are homegrown kids.

Waterford and Hiland are championship programs. That was going to be a war.
Interesting how the game played out. Hiland took control in the 2nd Qtr and led by 11 at half (I think). Waterford comes out early in the 3rd with an 8-0 run and grabbed the momentum. The rest of the game was about Hiland trying to maintain a 3-4 point lead and not let Waterford s momentum catch them.
Hiland's best chance was to win it in regulation. Once it went to OT, I felt the green had the advantage. Hiland couldn't get anything in the paint. Wagner is 6-4 and she is a problem for teams on both ends - and Waterford exploits that. Really good team.

Waterford always has a great game plan. Jerry and his staff always have their team in a different mode come tourney time. Congrats to Waterford! Go get another.

Nice to see Waterford knock off the top seed in the East District. Didn't realize Wildcats have a 6'4 player wow.

Really Coach Close is one of top Coachs in Ohio. Girls and boys, Howie included, Norm also, throw in the Hughes, Lisath from Portsmouth. from North Adams, Buechler from Eastern Brown. Bring back some titles for Southern Ohio.

Waterford up 10-6 after 1 qtr. Wagner defense tremendous, but offense needs to hit some of those corner 3's.

Waterford got a corner 3 to start the 2nd and its 23-11 at half. Wagner and Surry with all the points and they are 8/11 on FGs and 6/6 on FTs. Wagner mitigating the damage from Waterford's 11 turnovers as she is usually back helping to bring the ball up against the press and ready for the charge after turnovers. Loudonville 4/23 on FGs and 0/7 on treys.
