BACF Girls Basketball Game, Friday, April 3

The Battle Against Cystic Fibrosis Continues with the 14th Annual OH vs. WV Basketball Classic. The game will be played Friday, April 3 at Parkersburg South High School. The girls game will start at 5:30PM with the boys to follow. Skills competitions will be contested at halftime of each game with the boys slam dunk contest and 3-point shoot-out to be at halftime of the girls game.

Coaching the Ohio girls team this year will be Nelsonville-York coach Amanda Dalton. Coach Dalton guided her team to a school record 21 win season that ended with a loss to Ironton in the district championship. She will be assisted by Reedsville Eastern Coach John Burdette. The defending state champion Lady Eagles, who graduated all 5 starters from last season's run, finished the season 19-7 with a loss in the district championship.

The Captain of the 2015 BACF Ohio Girls Team is Warren’s Victoria Buzzard. The 5’-8” forward averaged 21.2 ppg for Coach Amy Colegrove with over 7 rebounds and 3 assists per game. Buzzard has already recieved 1st Team All-SEOAL and 1st Team AP All-SE District honors this season.

The roster for the Ohio girls team includes:
Michelle Adkins, Fort Frye (5’-5”, G); Sierra Barker, Belpre (5’-3”, G); Kendra Barnes, Gallia Academy (5’-5”, G); Victoria Buzzard (5’-8”, F); Micah Curfman, Gallia Academy (5’-7” G); Madison Davis, Nelsonville-York (5’-11”, C); Megan Devol, Caldwell (5’-9”, F); Taylor Hilverding, Waterford (5’-10”, F); Megan Liedtke, Fort Frye (5’-10”, G); Hannah Miller, Ironton St. Joe (5’-9”, G); Alle Moore, Marietta (5’-10”, C); Devyn Potts, River (5’-5”, G); Kelsey Riley, Fairland (5’-8”, G); Taylor Smith, Marietta (5’-7”, G); Caitlin Stone, Fairland (5’-3”, G).

Coaching the WV Girls will Parkersburg High’s Kenny DeMoss. The Big Reds posted a 14-10 record and fifth place finish in the MSAC, falling in the sectional championship against city rival Parkersburg South and in the regional to eventual state champion Morgantown. He will be assisted by veteran Williamstown coach Fred Sauro.

The Captain of the 2015 BACF WV Girls Team is Parkersburg South’s Keya Bartlett. The 5’-6” sharp shooting guard averaged 14 ppg her senior season, finishing her career 2nd on the school’s all-time scoring list (1,453 points) with school records for number of steals (321) and made 3-point field goals. She played for a Class AAA state championship for 3 straight years capturing the title in 2013 and falling to Morgantown in both 2014 and 2015. Bartlett has already been selected as a 1st Team All-TRAC and All-OVAC honoree and was selected to the Class AAA All-Tournament team all 3 years.

The roster for the WV girls team includes:
Holly Ackerman, Parkersburg (6’-0”, F); Keya Bartlett, Parkersburg South (5’-6”, G); Rachel Gammon, Parkersburg Catholic (5’-10”, F); Shayna Gore, Logan (6’-0”, G); Allison McGraw, Spring Valley (5’-5”, G); Hailey Miller, Ravenswood (5’-10”, F); Allie Robinson, Williamstown (5’-9”, F); Bethany Romine, Herbert Hoover (5’-4”, G); Kayla Scritchfield, Ravenswood (5’-5”, G); Emily Stoler, Fairmont Senior (6’-1”, C); Cassidy Taylor, Roane County (5’-6”, G); Taylor Treadway, Ravenswood (5’-5”, PG); Abby Watson, Hurricane (5’-9”, F); Kaden Whaley, Fairmont Senior (5’-11”, F).

The Ohio girls hold a 7-6 edge in the series.
