Lady Pointers win against River Valley

SOUTH POINT, OH-For the second Saturday in a row, Pointer Gym was open for basketball as the South Point Lady Pointers hosted the River Valley Lady Raiders in OVC conference play. South Point looked to remain undefeated in conference play.

The game opened with a big 11-0 South Point run. The first quarter ended with a 20-5 South Point lead. With strong defense and a balanced scoring effort, the game was never close as the Lady Pointers won by a final score of 80-40. Sophomore Ashley Goodall was the Lady Pointers leading scorer with 21 points. Jalynn Bradburn was second on South Point scoring with 12 points while Ericka Leighty and Kayla Fletcher put up 11 points each. In JV action, South Point won 35-15 as Erin Dillow was the Lady Pointers leading scorer with 19 points.

Only one more home game remains on the 2008-2009 season for the South Point Lady Pointers. That will come on Thursday, February 5th as South Point hosts Chesapeake for “Senior Night”. South Point will look to end the year undefeated in OVC conference play and undefeated at home. Action will get underway with the JV game at 6:00 pm.
