Ouch, the Redwomen come to town and play the Pointers for the second time in a week. Pointers by 20+.

Lady Pointers win big over Rock Hill

SOUTH POINT, OH-For the second time in one week, the South Point Lady Pointers played Rock Hill. The first game last Saturday saw a South Point win by a large margin. This game started where Saturday’s game left off as the Lady Pointers started the game with a 14-0 run. The first quarter ended with an 18-3 South Point lead.

However, in the second quarter, Rock Hill slowly but surely started to make a comeback. At one point in the quarter, Rock Hill cut the lead down to as few as seven. The first half ended with a 33-23 South Point lead. To start the second half, the Lady Pointers outscored Rock Hill 26-7 in the third quarter. From there, the Lady Pointers went on to win big in a final score of 74-33.

Kayla Fletcher was the Lady Pointers leading scorer as she had 16 points. Jalynn Bradburn was second on South Point scoring with 15 points while Ericka Leighty was third with 13 points. The JV game again saw South Point win big in a final score of 46-8. Ashley Goodall put up an amazing 26 points in that game.

The Lady Pointers will next be in action on Saturday, January 19th in a home game against Federal Hocking. In a matchup with Federal Hocking in early December, the Lady Pointers lost by a slim margin. The boys team will look to remain undefeated in an OVC conference game on Friday, January 18th at Coal Grove. For more information visit http://www.geocities.com/southpointbasketball .

Rock Hill was simply outmatched! Rather boring game to watch. With so few players on JV the Pointers had to play a lot of the starters until the JV could take over the 4th quarter.
