I believe Fort is working on some things still but I don't expect this to be that tight of a game. FF is getting things together and I would expect a comfortable win tonight. But I am hoping that Eastern can do some good things and keep it close. They seem to be really building and they played well the other night. I think their best game was against FH but if they keep stacking some wins and getting more confident, they can make a run for the Hocking title. Not taking anything away from their Waterford win but they just seem to be really down this year (more so than I expected with the talent they have). Best of luck to both teams and hopefully this is an injury free game.
I’m really looking forward to this matchup tonight. Borich has done an incredible job with this group, and FF is playing some very good basketball right now. They have key role players and, just as importantly, players who simply know what to do in big moments.

This game will come down to who can guard Eastern’s PG (#3) and who can contain Simpson. Both of those matchups will play a huge role in how this one unfolds.

Dowler from FF has had some strong games and is the type of player who plays hard until the final buzzer. Huffman will also be tough to beat—she’s been very solid and has put together some good performances this season.

If FF can play at their pace and bring their speed and hard-nosed defense against this Eastern team, I think it could be a big win for them. That’s also a tough place to play, which adds another layer to the challenge.

I’ll give FF the win, but I expect it to be close—within 8–10 points.

FF blew Parkersburg Catholic away which according to the WV media -PC was loaded with talent. But FF has been playing great basketball since the beginning of the season. They’re still getting their bearings in a few areas, but they’ve been fun to watch. Definitely a team to keep an eye on as the season progresses and they continue to gel under Borich’s helm
Good call on this game. I will admit I was wrong on this one as i expected a wider margin. Happy for Eastern as they proved to themselves that they can play with the top tier teams in the area. For Fort Frye, I don't think you can overlook the Casto girl. I think she is a girl that does a lot for this team that doesn't show in the stats. Good defender and great team player. Good game for both teams and Monday will be as well.

Lady Cadets with a big win vs federal hocking on the road. 46-37 final. Dowler had 17 and Huffman had 15 for the Cadets. Up next, and arguably the best team fort will face all year is the Laurel School. A private school from Shaker heights. They were ranked 4 in the state but dropped a hit with there lose Saturday. They are a d4 defending state champ I believe. Game will be 430 at marietta college this Saturday as part of the River City Classic. Cadets are currently 9-0.

The Laurel School reached the Final Four last year before losing to Bellevue, who won the title later that week.

The crazy part of that is that Laurel lost the top prospect in the 2026 class before last season, kept the same gauntlet of a schedule, and still reached the Final Four. They should have a majority of that team back from last season as well.

They are well coached and will be an excellent test for the Cadets to face, which will only make them better and better prepare themselves for another deep tournament run.

The Lady Cadets will face undefeated shenandoah next Saturday. Should be a great game. Dowler coming off a 26 point performance vs the laurel school Saturday. Shenandoah definitely has the height advantage and home court advantage. This could be the first of 3-4 meetings between these 2 squads.

Shenandoah 66-60 is what I’ve seen. I thought they would be pretty decent this year but this score surprised me. Like to hear from anybody who saw this game.

First time watching both teams. Fort Frye didn’t lead the entire game if I’m correct. Shenandoah had a ~15 point lead at one point but got sped up by Fort Frye press late in the 4th and started to turn the ball over. They also missed a lot of free throws down the stretch which allowed Fort Frye to come back. Shenandoah did a nice job keeping Dowler in check and holding her to 5 points, 3 of which being the game tying basket to send it to overtime. Once it was in OT Fort Frye was gassed after the big comeback. The Leach girl for Shenandoah was very impressive both on the glass and scoring inside. I believe she had 23 and 14. Huffman and Morgenstern for Fort Frye did a lot of their scoring. All in all, Shenandoah’s size in the half court gave Fort Frye issues on both ends of the floor. MaxPreps had Shenandoah with 19 offensive rebounds in the game. I’d expect Fort Frye to try to get out and run more when they matchup again. Shenandoah girls were fired up and ready to play. Fort Frye seemed to come out flat, which sometimes happens when you play at a random time like Saturday at 2:00 pm. Will be a fun rematch for sure.

The Lady cadets defeated the warren lady warriors 45-31 last night. Warren was without arguably there best player Aubrey pepper. Warren hung in with the cadets for most of the game. These 2 teams play again at the end of the season up in beverly. Gonna be a good match up when Warren gets to full strength. Up next for the cadets is marietta this Thursday in beverly.

Fort definitely didn’t look like the same team that showed up against Eastern. When a team that’s normally disciplined starts forcing passes and making mental mistakes, it usually means they’re either rattled by pressure or just not locked in. Warren’s scrappy steals weren’t accidental — they were capitalizing on FF’s uncharacteristic sloppiness.
Warren left the door wide open at the free‑throw line. When you miss that many layups and free throws, you’re basically handing away possessions. The Gates sisters usually contribute more efficiently, so seeing both struggle at the rim and the stripe had to be frustrating. In a game this tight, that’s the difference between a win and a loss.
Morgenstern (FF) — She was everywhere. Those back‑door cuts were textbook, and she finishes so well for someone who doesn’t have a size advantage.

The Pepper conversation feels overblown. One player rarely swings an entire game, especially when the issues were turnovers and missed free throws. As for the knee situation — it is surprising she’s not braced up after surgery, but some athletes swear braces make them feel slower or restricted. Still, it’s obviously personal preference.
And losing Greenwalt absolutely hurts Warren’s size and rotation. Depth matters, especially against a team like FF that plays bigger than they are.

When these two teams meet again later in the season, it could look completely different. Warren showed they can win that matchup — they just didn’t finish the job.

Lady cadets get the win over the marietta lady Tigers 56-28. Marietta was without senior (chidester) due to illness. Next up for the cadets is a rematch with the parkersburg catholic crusaderetts. The cadets are the only team to beat the crusaderetts this season. Should be a good match up Monday.

Cadets need to keep winning. I think Parks. Catholic hasn't lost since the FF game but I still don't expect this to be a tight game. FF has little room for error at this point. Currently a fraction ahead of Shenandoah for the 1 seed which would give them the choice of which side of the bracket they want to be on. Most will probably want to avoid Hiland so they could see Shenandoah in the district semis if both go away from the Hawks.

Interesting that they play Wheeling Central in Late January and, if the seeding is like it currently stands, they could go there again a week or so later for the first round of the OVAC.

I agree that fort has no room for a let down. With monroe central beating undefeated union local last night, forts district is definitely gonna be tough. Top 4 in the east district are:

#1. Fort Frye
#2. Shenandoah
#3. Monroe Central
#4. Hiland
Fort needs to keep winning to ensure the top seed

There are 10 teams in the East district, so I assume only one will be able to move on to regional play. Two pigtail games will get them down to 8 left. Do they start playing at neutral sites when 8, 4, or 2 are left? Do teams get auto placed into an NCAA style bracket according to seeds, or do coaches get to place their team wherever they want in the bracket, choosing according to seed?

Yes, only one team will get out of this district. As I understand it, the East district still allows coaches to place themselves on the bracket and they play at the higher seed until the final four (district semis). That will be an interesting draw.

Winner of this district goes to regional with two teams from the Southeast district and one team from the Central. The Central district team would be the most concerning and it is probably Harvest Prep. East and Central are on opposite sides so they would not match up until the regional final.

Too bad the east district only gets 1 team into reginals. I feel they have had better teams then the southeast district that gets 2 teams in reginals. I understand that its because there are more teams in the southeast district, but competitively I feel the east is better. With coaches picking there own places on the bracket it will definitely be interesting as to who these teams feel they match up better with. Only time will tell

Another good win for FF last night. I believe FF are the only two losses Catholic has. Now the Cadets have to navigate a long layoff before the rematch with Shenandoah. The Zeps got a convincing win against a very good Strasburg team last night and still play Caldwell and Marietta before going to Fort Frye. The top seed could be at stake and likely a big crowd for this one.

Fort Frye is a tough place to play. Not saying the Zeps can't win there but it is a tough environment.
FF is playing some good basketball. I think they have had some solid wins these past few games.
Would really like to see a Monroe Central/FF matchup before the post season.
Scheduling may impact the game against the Zeps. They were playing 2-3 games per week and the front end of their schedule was heavy.
Waterford won't be a game - like it usually is.
Looking forward to this Zeps/Cadets matchup
