Scrimmage Regulations

In addition to the scrimmage limitations for teams mentioned throughout this guide, the following are important:
  1. Scrimmages may be used ANYTIME throughout the season, including tournament
  2. Any practice with another school is considered a scrimmage by definition
  3. Any scrimmage between two schools must be considered a scrimmage for BOTH schools.
In other words, if Team A counts it as one of their 5 permitted scrimmages, it must be
counted as one of the 5 permitted scrimmages for Team B as well. It cannot be counted
as a ‘scrimmage’ for one school and a ‘game’ for another school.
  4. Each player is prohibited from participating in more than 5 scrimmages (4 if playing
in a Foundation Game). This prohibits a JV player from playing in 4 “JV Scrimmages”
    and 1-5 Varsity Scrimmages.
  5. All scrimmages are limited to 3 hours of scrimmage time.
  6. Admission may NOT be charged for any scrimmage, regardless of who is conducting the scrimmage.
  7. Scrimmages vs multiple teams are permitted. If they are on the same day, they count as
one scrimmage, but there is a limit of 3 total hours of scrimmage participation

The Ohsaa needs to seriously reconfigure its death penalty! Yes, Adena messed up, yes the AD, coaches, whoever else messed up, but to wipe out their tournament appearance is way to big a punishment. Has there been systemic problems in the past? Having had to fill out the paperwork required for all tournament entries, let me tell you it is a paperwork nightmare. Not excusing anyone, just feel the Ohsaa needs to fix this punishment!

Was told they didnt.

Then they knew. Though I agree, a fine would make more sense then making them forfeit their tournament game.

OHSAA needs to fix things like making all district seedlings the same. Or the huge transfer problem.

I do not understand how this 'mistake' can even be made. Who in the world are we allowing to be put in charge of kids? This seems like an unbelievably simple thing to avoid.

I feel sorry for the seniors who will be ending their careers like this.

I seriously doubt that they turned in a record of 14-9 since the tournament draw was on Feb 2. Their last game was on Feb 6

That's the thing, even if they turned in 14-8 for the tournament draw, they knew they had another game. Big question is, what did they really turn in for the tournament draw?

Yes, if 14-8 was turned in, that is a problem. My point was that there is NO WAY they turned in 14-9. If someone is saying through hearsay that they turned in 14-9, it is obviously incorrect information.

Your source had to have been mistaken. There is NO WAY they turned in 14-9 before Feb 2nd when they hadn’t even played their last game.

It was a game.
It was scheduled as a game in June.
New Hope has email trail from June.
Arbiterlive did not have it as a scrimmage.

Actually both schools had it listed as a scrimmage. In the right hand column, "S" stands for scrimmage.

It does say that now....
I can assure you it was not meant as a scrimmage at any time.

I'm being told Adnea school systems are lawyering up. They were under the impression New Hope was a scrimmage and the staff was not aware of the admission fee for the game. Will the OHSAA right a wrong ?

That would be interesting considering that Adena never even filed an appeal. You’d think before you lawyered up you would follow due process. Just a thought.
