Re: Fort Frye
I know Fort wants to play it. Last I heard is both schools are trying to get it to happen
Re: Fort Frye
You think Fort Frye versus Ironton or Wheelersburg would be competitive?dboy wrote: Wed Jan 28, 2026 9:27 amCan't imagine it because Fort Frye wouldn't want to play them or because those other schools wouldn't want to play Fort Frye? I think those would all be pretty good games year in and year out. Similar size and similar success in the past few years.efarns wrote: Tue Jan 27, 2026 7:18 pmI can't imagine any situation where Fort Frye would be scheduling Wheelersburg, Ironton, or Portsmouth. Harvest Prep or Fairland would be a long shot. Parkersburg South plays Fort Frye from time to time, but Parkersburg doesn't seem to have any interest.dboy wrote: Tue Jan 27, 2026 4:24 pm Didn't realize that they just recently started playing. Similarly, I think the football team should schedule Wheelersburg, Harvest Prep and Ironton and the girls basketball team should schedule Fairland, Portsmouth and Parkersburg. I prefer them to play teams that are good as opposed to teams that have been good in the past. Think it will prepare them for the long run. Hopefully the WC game gets played. I expect a pretty comfortable win for the Cadets.
Re: Fort Frye
I think they would be in Girls Basketball and, as I understand it, they will be in the same region next year in football so I hope they are. I actually have not seen them play in football but have read a lot from their fans on the football forum so it sounds as if they should be okay next year. I believe they have a lot coming back. I think I read that FF tried to schedule Wheelersburg a couple of years ago but couldn't get dates to match up.
Re: Fort Frye
They've met in Athens a time or two. I guess I could see it as a one-off or home and home "special attraction" on the schedule.
Footballwise - Fort lost to Barnesville by 28. Barnesville lost to Wheelersburg by 20.

Why do you think they’ll be in the same region in football next year?dboy wrote: Wed Jan 28, 2026 4:00 pm I think they would be in Girls Basketball and, as I understand it, they will be in the same region next year in football so I hope they are. Re: Fort Frye
From what I have heard from FF people, the Cadets will be Division V next year and Washington county is in that region. I believe they have been DV in basketball for a few years and the infusion of players from Marietta this year will affect next year's numbers. Maybe my information was incorrect, but they seem pretty sure that unless the numbers changed, they really couldn't avoid it.Sportsfan01 wrote: Thu Jan 29, 2026 8:16 pmWhy do you think they’ll be in the same region in football next year?dboy wrote: Wed Jan 28, 2026 4:00 pm I think they would be in Girls Basketball and, as I understand it, they will be in the same region next year in football so I hope they are. Re: Fort Frye
My understanding is that the boys will be in division 5 but the girls will stay in D6. From what im told all girls sports will stay d6 next year. The recent addition of open enrolled boys to the district wont effect the girls numbers. Could be completely wrong though.
Re: Fort Frye
That is correct. I understood @efarns question to be about the football teams in the same region and that was the reference there. The girls are 8 away from moving up and, unless they have a Freshman playing that is open enrolled, then they shouldn't be close to moving up to D V.SportsGuy25 wrote: Fri Jan 30, 2026 11:59 am My understanding is that the boys will be in division 5 but the girls will stay in D6. Sorry for the confusion.
