SVC 2025/26

Post by Space jam 25 »

With a few new faces around the league this winter, who are the front runners? Still think the league will be on the downside outside of unioto but 2-7?

1. Unioto- return too much and can’t see much of a run from anyone else
2. Westfall- new face at the helm this winter, return a good bit and have a solid freshman class.. but will the inexperience be too much..
3. Huntington- Kyle urhig is Kyle urhig.. he will have this group solid and ready to go
4-6 - southeastern Piketon Adena. Will be a toss up any given night.. Adena having a new but familiar face at the helm, with coach day heading to the boys side.
7/8 will be Zane trace and paint valley… Zane trace with a new coach but still have a hard time seeing much out of either of these two.

Not much longer till the start of svc girls basketball. Can anyone give unioto a run for their money or is it a runaway again? Good luck to all

Unioto wins very easily again, I’d be surprised if any game is remotely close like last year’s game at Adena was. Milee Smith is outstanding, plus Holbert and Beard are very talented as well. Dennis was starting to come around before getting injured late in the season.

Adena/Piketon should be next. Adena returns 5 of their top 7, including Halcomb, while Piketon has their top 3 players back.

I’d guess the next grouping will be Huntington/Southeastern/Westfall, with Huntington returning the least, but they are always in games when it feels like they shouldn’t be. SE has great size but lacks guard play and I know WF has a couple of solid pieces back.

Paint Valley has a nice freshman class and some pieces coming back, they’ll be an interesting one to watch to see how they mesh to start making their way back a bit after a couple of lean years.

Zane Trace has a couple of pieces, but will have yet another new coach, so who knows.

Dani's analysis is pretty spot on.

Unioto is the front runner and I'm not sure anyone can challenge.

Piketon/Adena should be a battle for 2nd. Piketon has a lot or pieces returning, Adena has the 2nd best player in the league who makes the job of everyone else on her team easier.

WF/SE/Huntingon should be a battle for 4-6th place. Of the 3, WF probably has the most individual talent, but they've already hired a coach in the Spring and then hired another coach when that coach resigned. SE has great post play, but could struggle at the guard spot. Huntington probably has the least talent of these three teams, but they have the best coach. Coach Uhrig always has his team prepared.

ZT and PV probably battle to stay out of last place. ZT probably has more talent/experience returning, but PV has continuity and could improve drastically throughout the course of the season.
