RACELAND, Ky. — The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers had no trouble seeing what the Raceland Lady Rams were doing, and consequently coach Doug Graham liked what he saw.

The Lady Tigers handled everything thrown at them as they beat the Lady Rams 56-30 on Monday.

“We played pretty well. We were able to beat their press and all the defenses they threw at us. We did a good job of recognizing what they were doing and we were able to adjust,” said Graham.

Lexie Barrier proved to be a blur to Raceland. She scored 19 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, collected 7 steals and had 4 assists as Ironton improved to 3-0.

Ariel Schweickart scored 12 points and 3 assists for Ironton. Lexie Washington had 6 rebounds and 4 steals while Karlee McMackin added 8 points and 5 rebounds.

“We got a lot of contributions out of a lot of different players,” said Graham.

“We’ve been doing a good job of everyone accepting their role sand playing hard and working together. I’ve been pleased with our effort.”

Barrier scored 8 points in the first quarter as the Lady Tigers went in front 14-8.

The defense limited Raceland to a mere 2 points in the second quarter as the blew the game open and took a 32-10 lead at the half.

Schweickart scored 7 points in the third quarter as the Lady Tigers extended their lead to 47-18.

Ironton returns home on Thursday to play Greenup County, Ky. The junior varsity begins at 6 p.m.
