Meigs ( 13-8) vs. Sheridan ( 15-5) Sectional Championship !

Post by bballinfo2 »

Meigs is coming off a nice victory over Vinton County Monday night during the first night of tournament play at Alexander High School . Meigs split with VC during the regular season. Senior Point Guard Catie Wolfe had a TVC MVP night with 26 points , 7 assist , 6 steals ; while Sophomore Morgan Howard keeps up her unstopable paint markers with 17 points and 13 rebounds , her 9th double double of the season.

Meigs will now play a " BIG" Sheridan General team , who was last years sectional champs. Meigs will have to keep the Lady Generals off the glass and limit 2nd chance points. If Wolfe and Howard can go for 40+ Meigs can pull off the upset of the top ranked SHS.

Actually it is not the sectional championship. The sectional championship pits the winner of the Meigs/Sherdian game against the winner of the Gallia/Warren game at Alex later this week.

FINAL SCORE : Sheridan 51 - Meigs 43

Much closer than the final score indicates . Meigs played very poorly and still had oppurtunities to win. Poor foul shooting and missed layups cost the Lady Marauders a chance at Warren Local for the Sectional Championship.

Catie Wolfe finishes her career at Meigs with 13 points in the loss , taking her total to a little over 1200 career points ( 2nd ALL TIME in school history) Junior SG Tricia Smith had 12 points , While double figure scorer Morgan Howard was help to just 6 points. Meigs finishes the season 13-8 !

Meigs could be the top contender next season in the TVC along with Vinton County. The 2nd and 3rd leading scorers return next season for the maroon and gold. Howard 12 ppg and Smith 9 ppg. Howard also averaged 1+ rebounds per game , and shes only a sophomore.
