IF the Purple are going to make a move THIS is the week ... vs #6 & #5 AT HOME ... with 2 W's Logan could be in the Elite 8 for the first time... EVER !!! ... I'm thinking that the Logan team doesn't even read Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio LOL ... probably a good thing - no pressure that way LOL ...

Just a few talking points...

Western just beat SW on a neutral court and has a better record. They also did it the night after a very tough 2 pt loss to Clay. SW rolled (and rested) over Northwest the previous night.

The Sciotoville East Tartans are 10-3. They averaged nearly 85 points, and won by an average of about 28 in their 3 wins this week. They did what they should have.

Why the bump for South Gallia over the likes of ND, East, and Clay? Who have they beat? Who is their best win, because the small school TVC appears to be really down?

I know Valley lost twice, but they have played a who's who of southeast Ohio schedule. Still think they are top 3 material. I don't think anyone outside of Unioto would have handled that schedule as well as they have.

Miami Trace. They have no wins outside of their league, but their schedule is also insane.

Not really sure how Washington is ahead of Vinton (Vinton won heads-up)...no clue how Chilly hangs in the 2nd group of AYO's @ 5-9, quality losses are still...well you know..... And just a thought, would love to see a March Madness tourney of just SEOP teams....winner take all regardless of division....would be F---U----N!

Green ..........3-10
Symmes Valley 3-8
St Joe .......... 2-9

All 3 games at East ... 8-27 opponents records ... where did you want me to put Portsmouth East ?

Western just beat SW on a neutral court and has a better record. They also did it the night after a very tough 2 pt loss to Clay. SW rolled (and rested) over Northwest the previous night.

Western Pike

L 51-61 Green
W 60-41 Whiteoak ?
L 71-73 Portsmouth East
L 65-77 Peebles
W 65-56 Manchester
W 66-48 New Boston
W 59-46 Piketon
L 53-61 Waverly
L 46-51 Portsmouth ND
W 48-41 Symmes Valley
L 62-70 Paint Valley
L 35-46 Eastern Pike
L 50-52 Portsmouth Clay
W 59-52 2ot South Webster ... I was focusing on the 2-5 in the last 7 games ... 1-3 in the last 4 ... the WHS win was dbl OT as well

South Webster

L 61-68 Portsmouth
L 44-47 Oak Hill
W 66-39 Green
L 45-75 Minford
W 61-45 New Boston
L 57-64 Wheelersburg
L 51-66 Waverly
W 44-37 South Point
W 70-63 Portsmouth East
L 27-54 Valley
W Northwest
L 52-59 2ot Western Pike ... I was looking at the Portsmouth East W by SW ...

... with the W over South Webster your point is well taken ... however I DID drop South Webster from #36 to #40 while moving Western from #46 to #43 ...

Why the bump for South Gallia over the likes of ND, East, and Clay? Who have they beat? Who is their best win, because the small school TVC appears to be really down?

South Gallia

W 57-47 Green
W 66-45 Symmes Valley
L 52-58 Belpre
W 73-49 Federal Hocking
W 65-50 Southern
L 59-65 Waterford
W 67-60 Miller
W 60-59 Gallia OT
W 74-59 Rdsville Eastern
W 63-57 Wahama
W 70-48 River Valley
W 78-63 Belpre ... good Ws over Belpre/Wahama/Gallia/Miller/ good showing vs Waterford ... 10-2 ...

... South Gallia will be playing Trimble next Saturday night with games vs Waterford/Wahama/South Point, Miller ... IF I made a mistake on jumping them based on record it will be corrected on the court in the next week or 2 ...

I know Valley lost twice, but they have played a who's who of southeast Ohio schedule. Still think they are top 3 material. I don't think anyone outside of Unioto would have handled that schedule as well as they have.

... Valley lost 2 games ... Minford was ranked 14 sports below VHS , lost to the 'peake who was 1 spot ahead ... the Indians STAYED in the top 8 at #8 this week ... so they lose 2 and should be at #3 this week ??? ... I will agree to disagree ...

... I still like the rankings as is - lots of difficult movement of teams ...

... Vinton County beat Washington CH in game one of the season ... can't dismiss early wins but the emphasis is "there is the rest of the season" to look at ... timing of wins and losses has something to do with rankings imo ... the early head to head games ARE more important if you are seeding teams for the sectionals - the quality wins, quality losses come into play EVEN more than straight week to week rankings ... as I posted I feel comfortable with the rankings as is ... the Week that IS Week #8 will be full of BIG TIME match-ups ... I'm looking for yet another difficult week to rank teams next weekend ... sure glad I have a day job !!!

Logan plays # 6 Fairfield Union Tuesday night and #5 Warren Friday night !!!
Meigs entertains Vinton County on Tuesday night
Meigs plays at Athens Friday night I believe as well ...
Alexander at Vinton County Friday

... those are only 5 games off the top of my head !!!

That's why I said the Tartans did what they should have done. The games were at home against weaker opponents. They are 10-3.

Great points on Webster and Western, just adding more info surrounding that game.

Those are some solid wins by South Gallia, they are on a nice little streak.

Those were just some of my thoughts. You are a great ambassador for the game. Thank you for your passion and insight.

Great list. Hopefully my Peebles Indians will learn from the weekend game and start to gel a little better. We have Lynchburg x2,North Adams again for the 3rd time, Cincinnati Summit Country Day past state champs and current record of I think 12 and 2,Eastern Brown again and the rest of the schedule. I figured we would finish at 17 and 5 when the season began. Hope we can do better than that. With Sophomores, juniors and Seniors in the starting lineup that are starting to play better together, I think we will make it.

Same here! They also lost to a bad East Clinton team last week. But, they are still in the thick of the SVC race and I think they have a chance to make a solid run if they shoot it well. Teams with good size will likely give them issues though.
