Beating the 'private schools' is one of my favorite athletic achievements when it comes to southeastern Ohio sports ... Eastern girls beating Newark catholic last year in the final 8 ... Trimble beating SCC in the regionals in football.

I say bring on the 'big boys' from Columbus - the defending state champs - the big bad private institution ... bring it on Eagles, we (southeast DII rep) can handle this team in our own back yard AT THE CONVO!!!

Dave ... you seen em last season at the Convo ... If they were a 7 last year (on a scale from 1-10) ... they are at least a 9 now.

It's also exciting to be the underdog against the big private school, but based on what Watterson did last year and did to Warren this year, they have to be a decent size favorite against the SE District champion. Of course in one game anything can happen...

Just looked up on the website above and they just posted the schedule for the Route 40 classic. It has Warren playing Sunday night versus Hartley instead of DeSales.

warrior90 ... just saw the CHANGE from Desales to Hartley ... I was going off of an earlier menu of assigned games - going to be an even tougher game for the Warriors as Hartley stands at 8-2 (having beaten Desales to open the season 61-48 ...

... thanks for the correction warrior90

How about reminding folks at Paint Valley of Drew Bobb!!!

I watched that guy hold his own versus O.J. Mayo at the Zane Trace Classic one year.

West took on West Union tonight. They was down double digits in the third then came back to win 65-62. Win moves them to 7-6 on the year

I will be doing the girls game Monday ... talk about a HUGE 2 days for Athens hoops!

Monday: #6 in the state Athens (16-0) vs #1 in the state Oak Hill (11-0) ... game will be covered by 970WATH & 970wath.com ... (pink game to raise money for breast cancer)
Tuesday: Athens at Warren

I'm in hoops heaven and its not even the weekend yet!

(We may still do the sportsfan Monday WarriorBlue - just not sure if it will be done on location yet.)

Wheelersburg plays 2 of the Elite 8 teams in the next week. Tonight Burg makes the trip to Valley and on Tuesday hosts Portsmouth.

... as I've read in the paper/and online the Burg has gotten things together - as they ALWAYS do whether under current headman Coach Ater or when one of the best in my book Coach Barrick was at the helm of the Pirates - WHS always has the horses/athletes to compete ... this year appears to be no different ... I fully expect a great game tonight between the Burg and Valley - no blow outs either way ... both teams will have to bring their "A" game to come aways with a "W" ... as a Valley team - that's what you want and as a Burg team the same ... should be a matchup that the cheap seat guys love down in Southern Ohio for sure ...

Whoa nelly. I thought Floyd had all sorts of 'connections' down around Vincent/Barlow?

Surely someone can get you a ticket.

Maybe put Warren #1 in your top 8 Sunday ... lol ... see if that works.

Glad to hear it's sold out in advance so I don't waste a trip to not get in lol.

In Unioto's win over Southeastern, the Shermans placed 5 players in double figures. Nick Overly with 15 led the way, he was 9-10 from the stripe. Alek Adkins followed with 14 pts off the bench, all in the 1st half, Erique Hosley had 12 pts and 9 Rebs, while Kyle Strange and Trevor Detillion each chipped in with 10.
Tyler Cartee was outstanding for the Panthers, leading them with 21 pts. Austin Hice added 16, with almost all of them in the 4th quarter.

Unioto travels to Zane Trace tomorrow night, while Southeastern heads to Frankfort to face Adena.

Don't believe they announced the game with Athens Tuesday was sold out yet, if you are wanting to go I would give the school a call though before heading down.
