Jackson 30
Washington CH 29 a final
... Mother Nature/Old Man Winter has overwhelmingly "won the Week that IS" ... last night saw the only 3 games Below the Lancaster-Dixon Line for THE WEEK (so far) played ... as the week has played out with school closing, road closings, Levels 2 & 3 , few to no practices or voluntary practices only , the move into January has historically been the beginning of night in , night out "league games" with non-league games sprinkled in ... with that in mind I thought it might be easy for schools to use the weather issues/road condition issues/few to no practice issues to reschedule league games ... not the case as FAC foes Jackson and Washington CH shoveled the sidewalks/plowed the parking lots and played a league game in the Apple City last night ... I DID NOT ATTEND ... I DID watch the game on the SOSA broadcast - well done as always SOSA! ...I DID keep napkin stats - it's what I do ... Jackson 30 Washington CH 29 a final ...
... it was an Ironmen type of game - control the tempo, play a half court game, get the ball in the paint, shot selection - at the rim, at the rim and at the rim ... as I pointed out most teams had few practices from last Saturday thru Wednesday , in some cases practices with full squads probably didn't happen with ALLLLL of this in mind - the Jackson MO of getting the ball into the paint, shots at the rim IS and WAS the best game plan ... the Ironmen who typically are not going to beat you with outside shooting on good nights were 0/8 from 3 point land ... Washington CH who IS more reliant on the 3 ball went 4/13 ... In the Paint? Jackson was impressive even on my big screen TV (yeah I had Jackson vs Washington CH on the big screen tv & Marietta vs Fort Frye on my desktop ) ... the inside passing of Jenkins, Woodard, Seimetz, Legg was excellent - making the extra pass, even if the look is a "no look dish" by Stephen Jenkins ... all of which resulted in shots at the rim - JHS did not make ALL of the "at the rim" opportunities - they left points out there for sure BUUT going back to what Mother Nature/Old Man Winter had thrown at every team in the SE district Coach Morrow & Staff would keep playing the percentages of "shots on goal in the paint" vs shots from the perimeter where players needed to find their "touch" "find their rhythm" ... Jackson 13 fgs in the paint vs Washington CH 8 fgs in the paint ... Jackson did an outstanding job of keeping the bigs of Chijevsky and Haithcock OUT of the paint ... when I think of a Coach Morrow team half court/deliberate offense that is complimented by outstanding/physical/ man to man Defense ... with the same weather issues as pointed out - not only does Defense TRAVEL, Defense doesn't require the "practice/shots to keep the rhythm" - physicality/communication/executing the defensive game plan - all going to be of ahead of the offense with the weather imposed time off ... perimeter shooting? Jackson 0/8 ... the biggest perimeter weapon on the Lions side was/is Jeston Everhart - he was 0'fer the first 2 qtrs - not in rhythm ... Jackson built a 15-9 lead at the half ... WCH was 1 for 6 from downtown in the opening 2 qtrs ... 3 fgs in the paint vs Jackson 0-5 from behind the arc (only 1 3-pter made off the WCH pace) ... JHS 5 fgs in the paint vs WCH 3 fgs in the paint ... size negated ... After intermission - WCH looked on screen to "wakeup" - they began attacking the paint as Chijevsky picked up 2 fgs (4pts) on the blocks, Haithcock 2 pts on the block and a drive and finish at the rim (4pts) ... getting points in the paint opens up the perimeter "looks" - Everhart & Bryson Heath got 3 looks with Everhart hitting 1 trey ... slowing the game down, working the ball in the half court, getting looks at the rim is good ... until it isn't ... the 3rd saw the Ironmen get all of their fgs "at the rim" ... the problem, the "until it isn't" -happens when you turn the ball over and DON'T GET shots at the rim OR on the perimeter ... WCH forced 5 Jackson turnovers ... again when you slow it down to running the offense for 45 sec to a minute before you get the shot at the rim - you have to take care of the ball ... the Ironmen didn't... WHC was finding it's offensive rhythm outscoring JHS 11-6 ... Jackson 21-20 after 3 ... I don't keep rebounds as one of my napkin stats but the Ironmen had to have out rebounded the Blue Lions by double digits for the game - it was a big plus in the opening 3 qtrs and even more so in the 4th ... holding WCH to one and done on shots ... Everhart was feeling it for WCH as the 6-1 jr. knocked down back to back treys giving the Lions a 28-26 lead ... Haithcock had opened the quarter with a transition bucket 2pts ... Jackson continued to get in the paint Garrett Legg getting fouled on the blocks - 2/2 from the FT line , Jax Carroll a drive and finish at the rim , fouled, missing the & one ... Stephen Jenkins fouled in the lane 1/2 from the stripe ... the 2nd Everhart trey gave WHC a 28-26 lead with 1:07 to play ... JHS fouled to eventually put the Lions at the line down the stretch ... CJ Crabtree in & out with Jax Carroll playing the offense /defense substitution game ... Haithcock gave CH a 29-28 lead going 1/2 from the line :37 on the game clock ... Jackson forced to foul ... WCH missed 2 FTs ... 11.9 on the clock - JHS ball ... Stephen Jenkins into the paint & 2pts at the rim with 4.7 sec remaining the & 1 missed ... TO Court House ... the Lions had a good look at their end of the floor right of the lane for the win - miss ... key napkin stat for the game JHS 4/7 from the FT line ... Washington CH 1/4 for the game ... in the 4th qtr Jackson 3/6 from the line ... Court House 1/4 ... Jackson 30 Washington CH 29 a final ...

How can a varsity basketball game end 30 to 29 in the year 2025?

Physical style play, very good defense and very few 3’s shot.JohnnySmithers230 wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 7:24 am How can a varsity basketball game end 30 to 29 in the year 2025?
