... this one was over early as Coach Maddox's troops jumped out to a 22-4 lead after the opening quarter ... WHS was led by the BIGS in the opening period ... 6-5 jr Trent Taylor led all scorers in the 1st hitting for 11 points / 8 pts at the rim plus a triple ... his running mate down low Chase Lupardus backed up Taylor with 6 points ... off the bench AJ Criss (pg) added a trey and a deuce for 5 points ... Athens with no answers for the Warrior D - as Warren forced 8 Bulldog turnovers/ 5 turnovers ended with WHS buckets ... Athens 4 Warren 22 after 1 ... Athens played 9 players, were missing 3 varsity players ... once they put the opening period in the rearview mirror the Bulldogs played well enough to keep things even for the next couple of quarters ... tying Warren in the 2nd 16-16 ... AHS got scoring from Nathan Shadik (8 pts/including trey)/Sam Trainer (3 points), Luke Mullins with a triple ... Zach Mullins 2/2 from the line ... Warren spread the scoring in the 2nd playing 11 ... Julian Stradelman nailed 3 ball, Taylor added 4pts, Hayden Wells 4 pts at the rim/ AJ Criss 2 points and 1 from Tyson Cochran ... the Warriors forced 7 more Bulldog TOs /3 more transition buckets ... Warren 38 Athens 20 at the half ... Warren took the 3rd 19-17 ... led by the 2 returning varsity players from last season - Taylor and Stadelman ... Stadelman looked at ease on the court in 3rd as the 2 guard/pg dropped 9 pts with his 2nd triple included/Trent Taylor showed his dominance in the paint adding 7 more points (22 thru 3 periods) ... Athens was led by Kieran Murphy's 7 points/ the Bulldogs knocked down 3 triples in the qtr. - one each from Murphy/Shadik/L. Mullins ... Warren 57 Athens 37 after 3 ... Stadelman, who had been inconsistent with his perimeter shot during the scrimmage season, drilled 3 more three-pointers (5 on the game) 12 pts in the period/24 for the game ... the Stadelman Show was supported by Hayden Wells' 4 points/Jacob Seally's & Cressey's 2 points each ... Shadik for Athens pushed his point total for the game to 19 by adding 6 pts/ 2 pts off the bench by Easton Nuzum and Luke Mullins ... Warren 75 Athens 47 final

Warren was in control from the get go ... all of the questions about at the offensive end showed answers - 7/13 from 3 point land ... the Stadelman inconsistence in the preseason - disappeared as the sophomore guard drained 5 threes and looked relaxed in ALL phases of the game ... Trent Taylor missed the last 3 scrimmages for Warren -showed that he is a threat in the post and on the perimeter where he can hit the 3 ball of get to the rim off the dribble from behind the arc ... Lupardus/Wells added 15 points from the post position combined ... Cornell/Criss added 9 points from the PG position ... the youngsters will be fun to watch as they grow into varsity players this season ... Belpre tomorrow night then on the road to take on a top 20 New Lexington team in what should be the Warriors first test of the young season ...

Have to sit out first two games. Dogs already have a short bench, take out 2nd and 3rd best players, primary ball handler and 2nd and 3rd scoring options and they had absolutely no chance vs a team like Warren.

They seem to never be at full strength when they lose a big game. Mysterious 😯

One big things that was failed to be mentioned in all the talk about how young Warren is is that Stadleman is back. Yes he’s a sophomore, but he started every game last year. So yes they are young but they bring back 2 starters and arguably their two best players from last year.

Except he didn't, he started about halfway through the season.

Stadelman started playing MORE after Jan 1 ... became the Warren perimeter threat by season's end ...
