2/18 Sectional Final: South Webster vs. Peebles

Post by bbjunky81 »

Thoughts on this #7 and #10 matchup? Both teams play a hard schedule.

Ive seen Webster a few times. If Roberts and Zimmerman get theirs, gonna be a long night for Peebles. But I can also see Peebles giving the jeeps some fits. Peebles will defend and play hard.

Gotta believe Peebles also would've been a higher seed if they played a SOC I or TVC schedule. I think Webster gets the win at home, but also think that Peebles will show up and make them earn it. I'll say Webster wins by a score of 68-58.*

Old tri- county league foes meet again. Peebles will have to play their best. As they proved at Fayetteville early this year, they have some magic in them, but they will have to be on for 4 quarters. Coach Arey will have them scrapping, that's for sure. Looking forward to a good game and catching up with my buddy Mike Rose.

Wow, Tri County League, a blast from the past. From Wiki:

Tri-County League (Southeast)

This league started in 1964 with the dissolution of the Pike County League. The two schools not already in other conferences joined with schools from neighboring Adams and Scioto counties that wanted a secondary conference to fill their schedules. These schools largely ended up in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference or the Southern Ohio Conference by the time the league wound up in 1985.

Portsmouth Clay Panthers(1) (1964–85, to Southern Ohio Conference)

Beaver Eastern Eagles(2) (1964–85, to Southern Ohio Conference)

Franklin Furnace Green Bobcats(1) (1964–85, to Southern Ohio Conference)

Manchester Greyhounds(3) (1964–71, to Southern Hills Athletic Conference)

Peebles Indians(3, 4) (1964-84, to Southern Hills Athletic Conference)

South Webster Jeeps(1) (1964–85, to Southern Ohio Conference)

Latham Western Indians (1964–85, to Southern Hills Athletic Conference)

(1)Played concurrently in TCL and Scioto County League 1964-79, and TCL and SOC 1979-85.

(2)Played concurrently in TCL and SOC 1981-85.

(3)Played concurrently in TCL and Adams County League 1964-70.

(4)Played concurrently in the TCL and SHAC 1971-84.

Some old timers might also remember that prior to 1964, Clay, Green, and Webster had a double elimination play in tournament to qualify for the Class A OHSAA sectionals. The tournament was held at the venerable Grant Gymnasium in Portsmouth.

Peebles great great coach….

But stopping both Zimmerman and Roberts, doable, but doubtful.

I agree, a tall task for sure. The Indians are pretty young and raw, but; battle tested. Hoping our best show up Friday. We could use a few more bangers. Safe travels all.

One senior. He's 6'4 or so. One senior who doesn't play that much and is 5'9".. About 5 jr's, and 4 Sophmores and a couple of freshman( another browning and a Reed. They all play hard, but; are streaky. They play hard and can suprise people when they get after it for all 4 quarters as in the first Fayetteville game. They will play hard and coach Arey will be prepared.

We’ll probably lose on a half court shot now. Thanks
