Portsmouth West at Waverly Thursday 02/10

Post by smurray »

The Senators travel to Waverly’s downtown arena this Friday (weather permitting) where they ruined the Tigers share of the SOC2 Title last year. West lost to Valley on Tuesday while the Tigers took care of business beating Eastern 73-32.
Waverly has not lost a game in 2022 and are playing with urgency and purpose and you better believe they remember last year.
Trey Robertson and Will Futhey have established themselves as the main scorers but defenses never know which of the other 5 will step up with 10-15 points. Tuesday night it was Hudson Kelly with 14. Wade Futhey, Braylon Robertson, Mark Stulley, Penn Morrison are all capable.

West played better last night against Valley than they had the few previous outings, but I don't think it will be enough to overcome the tigers.

With a loss to Northwest tonight, don't see them repeating the win they had last year at Waverly.

The SOC 2 has proven most teams can be competitive on any given night. With that being said, I don't see this being much of a game. Waverly by 25

… if the rest of SEO is like Hocking County today it’s like a war zone out there - trees across roadways, trees on houses/garages … Hocking county has over 70% of us without power (restoration estimates are Saturday night 11pm) … we are a level 3 on the roadways … warming stations being opened up for folks to get food/charge phones etc. … Hocking county has declared a state of emergency… no games tonight will be a common theme I’m guessing … hoping for power to all , thoughts and prayers for warmth and safety …

Wow, that’s horrible. Ross, Pike, & Jackson are, or were level 3. Take care of yourself….

...nope - they have closed both of their locations (Logan & Lancaster) until at least 11am Saturday ... gas stations are closed, folks driving to Lancaster/Nelsonville to get gas for generators ... AND it's snowing again ... fun times ... we went remote today for school BUT over 70% of the county was without power ...

Hope everyone will be okay up there...hearing about power makes me glad I had a backup generator installed about 12 years ago.

Stay safe...stay warm folks!!

Waverly has the talent to run this scheduling gauntlet and make a deep tournament run. They question becomes can the team psyche rebound from the misadventure in NE Ohio.

They need to put that one in their rearview mirror. Focus on the task at hand but keep it back there to remind them what that felt like. They def. use that for good…

Tigers took care of business at Oak Hill Tuesday and will be playing for the outright Championship tonight.
I’m sure they boys got some rest yesterday in preparation for this one. No repeat of last year…..
