The hornets have a few good wins in the competitive ovc but I hate that a team with the talent of Portsmouth can’t seem to get it together. Hornets have had a few good players transfer out before the high school level but seem to put together a scrappy team that can win games. Should be a good one.

Hoping that the Trojans can put together a good game but I honestly am not feeling that way. We have had trouble winning at CG in the past and I can guarantee that Coach Vanderhoof will have the Hornets playing hard on defense.

No reason it shouldn’t be a competitive game imo.

Portsmouth finally broke a winless road streak in OVC play last night with a 68-57 win at Coal Grove. The Trojans went 0-7 last season in the OVC last season, and ironically the last road win was a 72-60 win at Coal Grove in the final game of the 2019-2020 regular season. Kenny Sanderlin led PHS with 25 pts., while Daryionne Bryant helped with 24. PHS led 27-19 at the half, but a Hornet rally in the 3rd quarter cut the PHS lead to 40-39 after 3. PHS then outscored CG 28-18 in the final 8 minutes to pull away for the win.

Portsmouth is now 4-6 overall, and 1-4 in the OVC. Next up is a tough road game at South Point on Friday. The Pointers beat the Trojans 67-61 at PHS in early December.

Honestly with the talent Portsmouth has they should give any ovc team a run.
