The Tigers continue to improve. Howell is really stroking the threes and Wolf and Remington is taking over as the slashers to the basket. 61% free throws is an improvement but they still need to improve to 70- 75%. Coming off a very physical game I just hope everyone is healthy and ready to take down the Falcons

The game against Wheelersburg was about as physical a game I have seen Waverly play in quite some time and they came away victorious. I think Waverly is trying to get after it defensively to create turnovers and transition baskets. Tigers are improving every game as each player starts settling in to their roles.
Every single player who saw PT Tuesday night contributed to the win.
FT’s were better but not where they need to be.

I don’t know much about Minford but the Falcons better be ready to get up and down the court tomorrow night.

Never easy to come back and play well after a big win. (any sports...Ohio State vs Iowa) This should be a good game. We'll see how the Tigers respond against a solid Minford team. Friday night and warm weather, should be a good crowd on hand. Go Tigers!

Not sure what to expect out of the crowd being Christmas weekend. I hope it's a good one with Waverly at 5-1 now. Tigers need a good rowdy crowd tonight.

What a gritty performance by Waverly! They refused to lose. And hit foul shot after foul shot down the stretch. 16-20 for the game for 80%...Outstanding!!

How on earth is Minford 3-5? That is a very good very well coached team. They can flat out shoot the ball. They should end up well over 500 by season end I would think.

Pretty proud of the Tigers tonight. They battled back after being down 5 with under 2 minutes to go. Clutch free throws down the stretch by Howell and Wolf. 80% on free throws tonight!!!! How about Waverly's bench points tonight. (Hoover with 16 Dunn with 6)

Minford is no doubt the best 3-5 team around. They will win a lot of games the remainder of the season.

Now the Tigers need to rest up and heal up and get ready for the Holiday Classic

Tigers 11-13 FT's in the 4th, most of those down the stretch.
Mr. 4th quarter clutch Clayton Howell 8 of his game high 19 points in the 4th including 4-4 FT's, including 2 to pull Waverly within 3 at 52-55 with 1:39 to play. After a steal and a bucket from Clayton to put the Tigers up 56-55 with 1:17 to play he walked to the line and nailed 2 FT's with .32 to play to make it 58-55. Wolfe nailed both FT's with .17 to play to put the Tigers back up 3 at 60-57 and then Marquez nailed 2 more with .15 to play to put the Tigers up 62-57 where it stood til the final buzzer. Before Howell's first FT's of the 4th, Dunn nailed both with 2:55 to draw the Tigers back to within three at 50-53. SOME VERY CLUTCH FT's TO WIN THIS THING IN THE 4TH.

Minford lead 19-12 after one.
Waverly lead 29-24 at the break
Minford lead 47-43 after three
FINAL 62-57

WAVERLY SCORING
Clayton Howell 19 (15 second half)
Landon Hoover 16 (11 first half including 3 threes)
Ethan Dunn 7
Easton Wolfe 6
Ethan Adrian 5
Cobe Marquez 4
Cody Remington 3
Jake Reed 2 (both FT's in the 3rd)

MINFORD SCORING
Kelton Kelley 19 (12 second half)
Darius Jordan 12
Nathan McCormick 9
Cameron Dalton 9
Breydan Tilley 3
Eliaj Craft 3
Elijah Vogelsong-Lewis 2

Minford nailed 8 threes (4 in the first quarter)

Tigers doing what they need to do to win close games, moving to 6-1 heading into the Waverly Holiday Classic next Friday.
Tigers need to get some rest and heal some injuries - they've been in some heavy weight prize fights and coming out looking pretty good.

Smurray, would be interested to know some more stats. How many 3's did Waverly make. Do you know the points scored in the paint for both teams? Btw is it always that hot in the gym at Waverly? Seems like Minford wore down at the end since they didn't sub very much. Seemed like Minford had a ton of turnovers especially at the end.

Not sure of the number I'm thinking Waverly hit only 3 or 4 threes. I think I heard they was 21% from three land which is a bad night for Waverly. Credit Minford for guarding Howell at the Arc.

Minford is a good team! I know the record doesn't look good, but they definitely have some nice pieces and are well coached. They won't stay down long.

Another good win for the Tigers. Good teams find ways to win and it appears that they keep finding different ways to get W's.

Dani you are so right! This team continues to find a way to win and it is a different two or three each night leading the charge! Landon Hoover had 4 3's tonight on the first half to keep then in the game! Ethan Dunn played really well including the highlight of the night with the spin move! Come Marquez with a huge offensive rebound and outback in the fourth quarter and multiple kids knocking down crucial free throws! It truly has been a team effort night n and night out!

Side note: What on earth is going on in Minford? Only one sub on their JV team? Six nice players but holy cow what's up with that??

Minford has a really nice 8th grade team. Heard the got beat by South Webster and left a couple of the big kids on the bench most of the game. Anyone care to enlighten us?

Minford only has 4 freshman and 5 sophomores. Last years 8th grade class only had 7 players. Could have 9 on jv but one is out with an injury, a sophomore is a varsity starter and a freshman is playing 3 qtrs varsity. Jv is doing great and will get crank back and be better. We
