Waverly sectional is stronger this year, but jackson has always had the best teams in the past. The regionals prove that.

Would imagine we would have a win or two by now, but two of our top three guards are down to injury. Coach LaFon is coaching his tail off right now, but our schedule is difficult like always.

Yes the 7th grade is loaded best in area and 8th is playing well and having good year with some big wins.

If the South Point that played vs. Portsmouth shows up in sectional play, the Pointers can advance to the Convo. On that night, they did not look like a 2-4 team. They clearly outplayed the Trojans in all aspects.......and PHS is now a 6-2 team.

Ironton's 7th grade is very good, as I saw them beat Portsmouth easily. The 8th grade Trojans beat Ironton.

Interesting sectional..a lot of pairity in this one. Still can't get use to Waverly being D3..lol. I know they have struggled lately but I'm guessing Fairland will be a team others want to avoid in sectional play.Oak Hill stumbled with a tough loss at Burg but with there tough schedule id have them at 1 seed right now. Chesapeake seems to be coming on also. Waverly sectional is obviously the better of the two D3 sectionals but this one could have some good matchups as well. Watch out for South Point could beat anyone on any given night or lose to any team as well.Waverly is playing better despite ugly loss to a hot Burg team. A lot of bball left but Coal Grove might be best team in this sectional after there nice win over Eastern Brown ..going to be interesting

Based on Floyd's topic, here are the up to date records:

Oak Hill 8-2
Chesapeake 10-3
Alexander 7-3
Nelsonville 6-5
Fairland 4-6
Coal Grove 7-4
Belpre 5-5
Crooksville 5-5
Waverly 5-7
Wellston 3-7
River Valley 3-10
South Point 5-5
Federal Hocking 4-6
Rock Hill 1-10
Ironton 0-12

There doesn't look to be as many strong teams as what there are at Waverly. The #1 seed looks like it will come down Oak Hill and Chesapeake. The #1 seems to be pretty important as you would only need one win to get to the Convo. In addition to that, if the coaches go just on records and Ironton ends up #15, they could cause a problem for the #2 or #3 seed (if they are #14). They could get healthy and their schedule will have them ready. It also looks like the #1 at Jackson would probably avoid Valley, Portsmouth, and probably Zane Trace in the District Semis.

After those 2, I would say that Coal Grove looks like your #3 with the big win over Eastern Brown. You would then have Alexander, Nelsonville, South Point, Belpre, and Crooksville to sort out #4-#8. South Point has a great win over Portsmouth. Nelsonville has beaten Crooksville, Alexander, and Belpre so that would probably put them closer to the #5.

I would then say:

Waverly #9
Fairland #10
Fed Hock #11
Wellston #12
River Valley #13
Ironton #14
Rock Hill #15

I will say that I think Ironton is probably closer to 10 or 11, but it is hard to argue with no wins.

South Point certainly didn't look like a 5-5 team the night they manhandled my Trojans. The Pointers have talent, so their record seems to be somewhat of a mystery to me. I saw Chesapeake beat D1 Lancaster, and then the Panthers followed that up with a win vs. D1 Chillicothe. They might be the only D3 school in the SE district with 2 wins over D1 schools.

These next two weeks will become interesting for seeding purposes.

Interesting that the probable #1 just got beat pretty good by a team that could very well be in the 8/9 game.

... add another D1 victim to the Chesapeake argument as the Panthers have beaten D1 Logan as well to be 3-0 vs D1's ...

Looking at this sectional, the top 3 teams would not be seeded in the top 5 of the Waverly sectional.
