In the words of Lee Corso " Not So Fast My Friends".. If Portsmouth is making jump shots than yes it will get ugly. I look for Valley to slow the game down and take quality shots. Valley beat #3 seed Adena by a pretty good margin, Valley will be competitive and Portsmouth does not need to overlook them.

Portsmouth: 65
Valley: 52

A little observationson South Webster game
1 away game
2 Webster wanted it more
3 I knew a tough man to man on a jump shooting team
4 no inside presence
5 Trojans sounded like with not of open looks, and no inside game to say Game decided in opening minutes
6 stop the only true threat and held him to 13 k Reynolds
7 I can see the Trojans going out early
8 But were talking about pride and we will see if this has a positive influence on upcoming games, I believe it will or a very early exit

Portsmouth has won 15 games, and lost only 6. In talking to some people after the South Webster game, you would swear we were 6-15. Our Trojans are having a very good season, better than most expected, including me. The wall hasn't come tumbling down at PHS. This is not a great Trojan team, but a winning Trojan team. Very proud of our kids. GO TROJANS!!!

I know the Trojan fans could of not of been happy with the outcome last night but i think they can take several positives away. First on offense you were able to get somethings going on the inside. Secondly that defense will travel anywhere. They just need to dial it up to high a little earlier in the game. Kids play really hard. That will get you a lot of wins but they are not as talented as some recent Trojan teams.

Maybe I will see you guys this weekend. North Adams is a changed team from earlier in the year. Since Anderson their all league guard is out they now run a more deliberate offense. Should be a good game to watch. X's and O's.

Congratulations to our Trojans on the win.......Coach Collins' press early in the game made a huge difference in the outcome, as it forced numerous Indian turnovers which PHS converted into baskets. The Indians battled back to cut the lead to 6 points, but got no closer. Portsmouth steadily built the lead in the 2nd half to the final margin of 20. Christian Breech had a nice game for Valley with 19 points. Mike Malone had 15 first half points for the Trojans.

Portsmouth and Valley have now split 4 tournament meetings since 2010. The Indians defeated the Trojans in sectional play in 2010 and for the district championship in 2014. PHS beat VHS for the district championship in 2012 and in last night's sectional.

Kendal Reynolds is closing in on Larry Hisle's mark of 1,375 points which is right now 3rd on the all time PHS scoring list. His 28 points last night gets him even closer, and he could break it depending on how far the Trojans advance in the tournament.

Portsmouth (16-7) has now won at least 16 games in a season 39 times.

GO TROJANS!!
