... LE vs Sheridan will be a very competitive game tonight in the Logan Sectional ... in Coach Stiverson's TEAM you have the given of as the opposition you will have to work for every point you put on the scoreboard as any Coach Stiverson TEAM plays great defense ... the Braves will try to keep Sheridan under the magic 50 point line ... the problem with LE this season has been on the offensive end of the court - Dillon Young is/has been the scorer - sometimes literally THE scorer - as the rest of the Braves have not been consistent putting points in the scorebook ... when Logan Elm gets balanced scoring from the role players they are very competitive/will have you putting an "L" on your handy dandy pocket schedule ... getting scoring from multiple players/throughout the game will decide if the Braves go to the Convo ...

... Coach Booth and his Generals have played "up" with this seasons' schedule taking on Columbus DeSales (43-35 win), @ Columbus Mifflin (77-72 win), @ Logan (76-69 win), @ Marion Harding (68-44 loss) throw in the usual cast of characters in the MVL - Tri Valley/John Glenn/Philo/Maysville/Crooksville/New Lex and you have a pretty solid lineup prepping for the post season ... Sheridan CAN score - showing they can play up tempo (i.e. the 77-72 game @ Mifflin) while being able to play in the half court as well ...

... MSL vs MVL in the Land of the Purple tonight at 7pm ... the Purple Hippo will be in the Cheap Seats - it should be a good game ... who gets THEIR ticket to the Convo and Basketball Thirty ? ...

This will be a low scoring game just like last nights four division II games. Last night the four winning teams scored 51, 52, 53 and 56. The winner of this game may be in the 40's. Logan Elm will need to rebound the ball and get scoring from Young as well as a couple other players. Thompson and Congrove will need to help score to open things up for Young.

Sheridan will need to handle Logan Elm's pressure and limit Young's shots to win the game.

I think Logan Elm returns to the Convo after failing to make it to the Districts last season. I like Logan Elm's chances when Stiverson has a week to prepare.

Logan Elm 48 Sheridan 41

Logan Elm 56
Sheridan 44

... the final game of the Logan Sectional was the perfect Logan Elm script of a game ... Coach Stiverson probably had the whole game plotted out on his index card ... control the tempo, force Sheridan to work the ball on every possession , contest everything, keep within reach after the first 2 quarters - better yet just make it tied at the end of 2 and we'll call it even ... if the point total is under 20 for either or both teams so much the better hmmmmmmmmmm (flash forward to intermission of the REAL game) both LE/Sheridan had 6 fg's each in the half/ both teams shot 30-31% in the first half, both teams had 2 three pointers at the half ... Logan Elm 16 Sheridan 16 at the half ... (going back to Coach Stiverson's game script) coming out after half time LE looks to "get a lead"/with the LE defense any lead is next to impossible to overcome ... how do we get "the lead"? turn up the pressure ... force Sheridan to turn the ball over - transition baskets/if nothing else by turning up the pressure the Braves get more fluid in the half court offense/the outside shots will start falling ...once the lead is in hand - play defense/work the ball on offense/run the clock ... bottom line - LE gets to 50 LE wins ... sometimes the best laid plans DO come together the way they are drawn up ... hats off to Coach Stiverson and staff as the Braves followed the script - turned up the pressure in the 3rd quarter, got the lead early on in the 3rd bolstered by 4 threes in the period - the key was the perimeter scoring came from 4 different players - Dillon Young,Logan Thompson, Trent Congrove, Waylon Artrip each hitting a trey in the third ... goal accomplished "got the lead" ... Logan Elm 35 Sheridan 29 after three ... the fourth quarter saw LE's lead "balloon" to 10 points for most of the quarter - 2 more threes (Young/Artrip each with one) and the usual parade of FTs - LE was 12/16 from the line in the 4th ... the Braves took the 4th 21-15 and the game Logan Elm 56 Sheridan 44 a final ...

Love reading the rundown. You had your pencils working overtime on all the stats.

Nice effort by the Braves spreading out the wealth on the scoring front. Nice job from behind-the-arc. But it comes down to defense, as you said pfloyd, to get the juices flowing.

I wasn't there - watched Piketon-Westfall - but I'll be on the free-loader row on Thursday in the beautiful Convocation Center, loading up on the hot dogs and watching some Basketball 30.

LOL ... I'll be sure to stop down on press row to get your take on the action bman ... looking at doing the SEO version of the " Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs" beginning with D4 sectional games at Meigs on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by D2 at the Convo Thurday/Friday , 6 D3 games Sat at the Convo, rest Sunday before opening night of D4 games Monday at the Convo, ending with D4 games Tuesday night at the Convo ... take a breath before the District Championships that begin on March 7 for D2 ...

pfloyd, I know this might be revolutionary, but there is an awfully good girls doubleheader in Basketball 30 on Tuesday. Fairfield Union, MSL-Buckeye champions vs. Miami Trace, SCOL co-champions, followed by Jackson, SEOAL champions against Athens, TVC-Ohio champions. Some pretty good girls ball there. You can even see your buddy 93Dog, and root on your SEOAL counterparts from Jackson.

bman ! that's ALL I need to get interested in the girls side of hoops in Southern/Southeast Ohio ... have a weekly ranking of the Elite 8 Girls Teams in Southern/Southeast Ohio ... it would be insane trying to track ALL of the teams Below the Lancaster-Dixon Line on the girls side ...

Proud to see you expanding those horizons, showing you can enjoy the beauty of both the boys and girls games.

When 93Dog ranks five TVC teams in the top seven of the new girls list, you can call BS on him. You can unveil his ponzi scheme, his kickbacks from the towns of Athens, McArthur, Nelsonville, Hemlock, Reedsville, Glouster, Wellston and many more.
